The moons would move too. Then how do you find your POS ? Bad idea is bad idea.

.... If your POS is orbiting the moon why would your POS not move with the moon ? come on people use those braincells Cool

That's not how it works with POSes. My logic is sound.

POSes are located at least 100k in a random direction from a Moon's Warp-to-Zero. I ain't crawling 100K+ everytime I warp to the moon in order to get to my POS. Neither will anyone else put up with that. Obviously a POS bookmark will not work under these conditions as established already..

Lets give the Pole Dancers some respect, there has been serious talk of making it an official Olympic Event. Smile

One can only hope.

I remember seeing a post where someone was discussing "Moving Grids" that moved with the celestials, as they themselves moved. Your bookmarks would still be at X, Y, Z, on this particular grid, but the grid would move.

Relativistic bookmarks would be cool too. They could have some fixed "origin" and they could simply do two angles - one for horizontal change, one for vertical change, then distance. That'd essentially be X, Y, Z as well but perhaps easier to deal with.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

But the Bookmark would not be any good. if that is going on.

Obviously you have not owned or used a POS.

Sigh* ... If the planets orbited the sun and the moons orbited the planets a pos would have to either be in a Geosynchronous, sun Synchronous or in a Polar orbit. this is what was brought up before. So there fore a book mark would have to be updated with the position of the POS.

We are talking in hypothetical terms, would be great if you could follow.

... and thus the concept mentioned above (moving grids) comes into play. A concept actively being kicked around at CCP but with no firm plans made for development.

With moving grids a specific set of grid coordinates would move with a celestial body (planet, moon, gate, station) and locations on that specific grid would remain constant as far as your bookmark is concerned... while in reality (lol) the celestial body that the grid is centered on could be in constant motion (orbit).

The end result is that your POS could indeed be located above any celestial body, and that celestial body could be in an orbit, without screwing up your bookmark.

This is being discussed because of proposals to expand POS's, as well as make them anchorable in a wider variety of locations, and even in groups forming POS cities if you will. This could also apply to Outposts or stations.

If it does happen it will likely be a looong way down the road.

They'll still be there. They'll just be temporate zones, good for vacationing.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

I love the part of Neal Stephenson's "Anathem" when they are driving though the Northern Regions past 'the old cities' that people had established when the Median and Equatorial parts of their planet got too warm. Now the cities are abandoned and buried in snow, and gigantic blocks-wide mobile excavation factories slowly grind them up to extract metals like copper wiring and steel.

Just thinking about the code gives me a headache.

Thread with a post from CCP FoxFour about CCP Nullarbor and his ideas for moving grids. Nothing much, just that CCP has thought/is thinking about it.

Your Moon, My Pole. Can you imagine, My Goal ?
The night is young, our spirits high.
Your moon, My pole. Were Eye to eye.
So common baby and take a chance, life is short dont shun my advance.
At first glance i may look ugly but open up and you will see.
That Your moon and my pole were meant to be.

(Yes i know im terrible at this)
