Strange situation in Cistuvaert - ship graveyard

While slowly traveling along what I think is the route of a special training op fleet (that I think there is more to op than training) I made another strange and chilling discovery.

Cistuvaert appears to have become a massive graveyard of rookie ships

I would normally dismiss this myself, because the abandonment of rookie ships happens all of the time, from target practice to simply trashing them.

But every one of these ships was abandoned in space, in some cases many AUs away from the sun. There is otherwise no way to get a warpable point to the navigational system unless by agent or previous "bookmark", so these are not likely left there randomly or by accident.

This leads to the next part of the mystery.

It's possible to get pilot names from abandoned ships. I checked on this from a small random sampling of ships I scanned down and only part of my expectation was met: they were flown by rookies, which would normally lead me to suspect that perhaps they got more ISK while in a low level training mission and decided to eject there. Most of them were in the rookie corporations that all of us start out in.

But there were some flown by pilots with more time in space. And again, it's quite uncommon for a rookie ship to be abandoned in such a manner. I counted roughly 100 ships.

Why somebody would do this I don't know. There does not appear to be a single corporation behind this.

Just a few jumps away, a freighter full of escaped rogue soldiers disappeared and shortly after that in Algogille I found Federation Navy Drones floating in space without damage and no "owner markers" on their identifiers for the overview.

Now this ship graveyard. The whereabouts of the pilots are unknown. I don't expect so many rookies to hit a lottery and abandon their ships en mass like that, and with an attention to dispersion in the system.

I did not have time to check every one of these ships - maybe there's a cargo hold with a clue? Anybody who is interested in solving this mystery should check this out. I have a suspicion that this could be tied into all of the strange events with the situation in Luminaire, the fleet incursion, the missing freighter, and maybe even the drones.

Interesting.

I wonder how much cargo space one of the new clone soldiers would require for his kit and clone tanks?

Perhaps a new pilot frigate would be enough.

One wonders what happened to all these new capsuleers once they had finished their haul.

A Velator is quite roomy cargo wise, and has 10 cubic meters of drone space too. I've had many of them peeled off my capsule back in the day.

I will honestly be shocked if all these terrible and mysterious events are not linked in some way. Things are just getting too bizarre and too scary for it to be coincidence anymore.

I know I'm starting to sound like the whackjobs from that "Ancient Jovians" Holoprojector program but come on, this is all a bit fishy even for me.

Have you spoken to the owners of any of these ships? If they are still around, they might be able to provide valuable information as to what just happened here.

Collect the salvage, make the money, and leave the mystery to those who like to waste their time.

An investigation of random ships across the system show that some of them are stripped of modules and others have the basic equipment that you get with a free Velator.

Either there is some kind of mission whereby pilots are getting a new ship and simply discarding their ships (probably being towed back later by some service of the Navy?)

Or

There is some slimy space ghoul out there luring capsuleers out of their ships with candy and eating them.

Beyond that I don't know.
