Resubbed for the first time in a few months, still pretty rusty, inexperienced, cash-poor. Decided to enlist in FW.

I haven't had the pleasure of fighting over a complex yet, but I'm curious about mitigating my disadvantages against experienced, higher-SP opponents. Right now I'm thinking that with my current skillset (~8M SP, ~2M in Nav, rest mostly in Science and general support skills while mapped Int/Mem) kiting will be my best option. I have a couple Gunnery skills at 4 but most are 2-3 and brawling seems like it would be heavily reliant on Honeycombing and having all Armor Compensations to at least 4.

Since I don't have proper Drone skills yet (T1 Scouts only, poor supports), the Tristan is a no-go, which leaves rail Incursus and Atron. Armor buffer is out which leaves resists and/or reppers giving the Incursus defensive advantage, as far as I can tell. Since I'm typically going to start my engagements from a defensive posture (running Novices), outside scram and possibly disruptor range, GTFO is not a prime concern, but I assume range dictation and tracking management will be key.

Basically looking for others to expose the flaws in my thinking as I have enough ISK to fit another 10 frigs, but want to make sure I'm picking up the right fit for my circumstances.

Continue plexing, expect to be killed in 1v
1s quite frequently, and find a good corporation that can give you advice and direction.

I've come to the conclusion that the rail Incursus may not be the best choice for a low sp pilot. While i maintain that its the best t1 brawler its just not very newbie friendly.

[Incursus, RAWR]
Pseudoelectron Containment Field I
200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
NEW Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

1MN Afterburner II
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

Light Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S

Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

Pretty much idiot proof, feel free to downgrade the dcu but other then that it should stay as it is. (If the AAR is too expensive for you just put a t2 on there)

If you really really want to kite do a rail atron, its extremely MEH but it works.

Screw the range stuff.

Fit cheap t1 meta 0 stuff (or whatever you can afford, basically).

For an Atron, that mean sticking 3 light electrons or ions in the turrets, fit an afterburner, some EWAR (TD is popular right now, but don't discount sensor damps...) plus a web and fill the lows with the usual (DC, some magstabs, maybe an armor plate/nano resist). Load up on antimatter ammo, of course.

For more fun, try and skill up so you can use a small energy neut/nos in the utility high slot.

Get some cheap speed rigs (YOU ARE A TIE FIGHTER) and go, baby, go!!!

Notice I left out tackle. Let the other guy fit tackle, you fit a combat module instead and gain some advantage.

If he tries to warp out, just bump him off alignment and keep shooting...:)

Should cost less than a million for the whole package.

The Incursus with the new Small AAR is nice, but man, the paste is NOT cheap.

IT IS NOT CHEAP.

Bastards.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

I appreciate the tips and pointers, thanks very much. It seems perhaps that kiting might be a better option for low-SP simply because the Atron is more suited to it and is more forgiving of new combat pilots. I will definitely try it out over the Incursus in the coming weeks, though I might be forced to eat my words if I go 0-10.

If you're going with the Atron, try to avoid right clicking and selecting orbit and just brawling them down. That'll mean you're just betting your tank and damage against his.

Maulus. Maulus. maulus.

Say it 3 times and there is a 1% chance you will summon maulus, who you must fight. if you defeat maulus you gain 3 wishes.

I thought about it, but my theorycrafted loadouts were still too dependent on skills I haven't leveled enough yet.

Also, damping people to oblivion would make me a bad person. Blink
