There are some old Eve Devs working on this one... along with old D&D guys.

Looks good, pretty much a fantasy Eve. The Devs are using alot of Eve as a base for the system and open world PVP, includes building settlements that can be taken by enemies etc.

Pathfinder Online is based on the Pathfinder RPG which I've played quite a bit. The RPG was the pnp industry's answer to WOTC and Hasbro when they announced DND 4E. So many people preferred the 3.5 rules that Pathfinder was born. I've donated to the kickstarter and I'm surprised to see them make it open world pvp sandbox style to be honest. We'll see how it goes.

I have been eying it with curiosity, but sadly, I am on the side of The Gaming Den theories ... So I look at the development with caution. But yes, Pathfinder was simply the biggest backlash against the utter crap 4E was, which reminded me a bit of the Incarna fiasco in terms of community rage.

Despite the many, many flaws Pathfinder has as a system, it actually managed to fill the void the bittersweet switch from 3.5 to 4E left in almost everyone.

I just hope they dont go the WOWfication route with it, in the hopes of grabbing a bigger market niche. Niche games have a solid ground in this day and age.

Yea Darkfall v 1.0 is over and the new game is in open beta.

The old version was pretty clunky but the game style was great fun. If you had ever played Ultima Online in it's early days it was basically just like that except 3d. That was pretty much their goal, to pick up old UO players.

niche game but a lot of fun .. they're not trying to be a wow clone at least. skill based, free loot/open pvp, realistic banking like eve, pretty cool FPS targeting style .. meaning just because you click someone doesn't mean all your spells/shots/swings will hit .. you still have to aim to hit anything.

I havent really looked into the new darkfall game yet but I assume all the main features will carry over. Cant wait :)

If they tried to think of their own idea they might hurt themselves.

The new Darkfall is the same as the old one, but with a downgraded interface and a half implemented class system. It's a worse version of an already bad game. Personally, I'm waiting on the Shadowbane emulator for my fantasy sandbox fix.

AD&D 2E is still the best.
