Are there any guides you folks would suggest I look at since I am thinking of going all in for PVP on this guy? I am extremely green to anything PVP, always been more of an industrialist but PVP just seems to get more and more appealing to me. Any help would be appreciated. I'm also going to be getting into FW to give that a shot. Currently a missile boat pilot but I am suspecting I will need to go a different route with ship use.

-Join an active militia corp that has some older players but is newbie friendly. Fly with them and ask for/accept their advice. The process of learning pvp can be sped up a lot if you have someone who actually knows what they are talking about to give you advice/correct your mistakes.

-Scavenge killboards of solid pvp'ers for fits. Evaluate them, use them, learn how to fight them. I see a lot of people who will engage ships and have truly no idea what they are capable of. Don't make that mistake.

-Learn about heat, optimal, transversal and angular velocity and all the other technical stuff about pvp.

Not really that helpful to a complete newbie, i get about a 8:1 ratio in my incursus but a newbie would probably just die over and over since it requires some minimal skill to fly.

Its better to use fits where you can also get an explanation on how to use said fit.

99% of the learning you do will come from actual PVP. If you are looking to join FW seek to join a reputable corp. and ask for their advice after you have read the basic guides on how to do faction warfare. Beable to fully fit 10-20 frigs and a few destroyers and go flying with your corp.

Good luck.

Honestly the best advice i can give you is get in a corp of seasoned and active pvp'ers , fastest way to learn the ropes imho.

There's a difference between not having any PvP experience and being incapable of figuring out OR asking someone for an explanation about the tactics that go with a certain fit.
I'm not saying people should use fits without understanding them. I am saying that it's a good place to start and if someone is getting good results with a fit then so can you, provided you can figure out - in one way or another - how the fit works and how it is best used.
The only exception would be fits that (only) work because of link alts.

Like I said: going through these fits and evaluating them will also learn them about what they can fight, what potential fits are for each ship. You can't be successful at PvP without knowing with a high degree of certainty what you'll be facing in each fight.

that is only one way to do it, back in PERVS one of the stupidest pilots i ever have meet was pikkuhukka, he joined PERVS when he started to play EVE, but still he did not 'die alot' because he was member of good corp, where he got tips how to play.

Confirmed! Just see my killboard :)

OP, definitely start in T1 frigates. You will die a lot. Don't get discouraged.

Much of it boils down to knowing who to engage. Browse popular fits for the other frigates and always have a killboard window open the quickly check likely fits for a possible target.

As far as the actual fight goes the player who effectively controls range usually wins. If you are strong on missiles consider a long range LML kiting condor (and everyone will hate you) or a scram-range kiting rocket ship.

I recently joined RvBand man it's alot of fun. You learn quickly to not be upset when your Ship explodes. I even commanded a small 8vs8 fleet (to success even, it was awesome and holy crap my heart was pounding:p). Anyway, the Point is, just go for it, listen to the fc's and do 't be sad about losing ships.

When you lose, ask the person that beat you (via Evemail) what they thought was the key reason you lost.

I don't understand how people can do the lml condor/kestrel thing...

It goes entirely against all my instincts to not burn into scram range the moment my target even gets remotely close to escaping.

You have to accept that letting them escape is better than dieing if you make piloting errors before you have them in hull or low armor.
