Ive been googling the subject and theres been faint talk over the years about playing Eve on a tablet or even a phone, but I guess not much has come of it.

I was originally thinking of getting the Surface Pro to play Eve on but lets face its thats $900.. I was thinking it could also be done on my cell phone, which is almost as powerful as the tablets, but I would have to remote in.. Logmein, or a VPN.. But I havent found many guides on how to properly do it..

Anyone have any advise on how to log in on the phone.. I was thinking about just doing it for some afk mining while on the cough at home..

Any advise is appreciated.

Just tried it out dragging items out of your cargo seems like it could be an issue that I may not be able to resolve...

Any idea?

I don't have it installed right now but i'm pretty sure there's a toggle on/off for left button somewhere so you can drag stuff. if not then there's a right click context menu option which should let you refine ore and move the minerals into your hangar. HTH!

Technically feasible, especially with android (think linux eve deployment) but not really worthwhile. Not gonna happen on ipad/phone unless its setup as an app.

it's all fairly simple.

depending on the version of windows you are running you will have RDP which i've always found to be the best remote access around. however if your running 7 home or something like that you will either need to upgrade that, or get someting like a VNC server/viewer.

the key to all of this will likely be firewall ports, for RDP your looking at 3389, and for VNC you need ports 5800 & 5900 typically. so you will need to have a play with your router before you'll be able to do this anywhere other than within your own network. You will need to first find your outgoing IP (google will tell you), and you need to route the ports to the PC that will work as your host (this will be in your router settings)

from what I've seen there are a few apps available for android (some free, some paid) and I had some success with once called pocketcloud. (sadly i can;t afford to run my PC 24/7 so i've not messed with it too much)

Interestingly if you are more inclined to fiddle with your phone/tab, there has recently been a release of a ubuntu OS which may allow you to play EVE directly, also I think there is a WINE app in the pipes somewhere for android which again might allow you to play directly without all of the other messing about.

We already have enough problems with scrubs running the game on windows XP the mere thought of trying to cater for people running tablets makes me shudder

Your about as much use as a condom dispenser in the Vatican.

CCP won't ever directly support tablets or phones, even the linux client is/was run on an emulation of windows.

as for xp users I don;t think that is too big of an issue until all of the remodeling is finished and tessellation is ready to go. That said I agree that it really needs to die.

While not really a tablet, I tried to play it on my Surface Pro. It works well, except it gets hot really fast and I have to put it down. I still prefer playing it on my PC.

I have remote connected to my pc with Logmein free from both android and ipod touch.

It is a bit slow to respond as it is sending pictures of your desktop to the app.

You can move items by double clicking and holding the second tap to drag.

Avoid PVP situations. You will die.

I used if for some market trading, and minimal transport missions.
