Color for Gallente?

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but does anyone ever find themselves wishing that the Gallente boats had a bit of... color? And yes, I know that grey is basically their signature look... but sometimes I wish there was just a touch of something else. The Gallente are such a flambouyant, wild, entertaining culture... and yet their ships are, in a strange way, even more subdued than those of the Caldari.

I dunno. I'm not by any means suggesting clown colors or anything. But it might be interesting to see Gallente ships with, say, a different shade of afterburner. I think grey hulls would look really interesting with deep red flames coming from the engines. For some reason, I think the white-on-grey is just a bit stark for the nationality they're supposed to be.

No to red flames. blue, pulsating ones would match the mwd lifestyle better

They are adorned in subtle shades of green and blue.

Perfect choices for your art deco submarine exterior, and give a classy but confident impression, giving you the feeling that that Erebus that just turned up is there solely to play some smooth jazz at you.

There is one specific setting that turns them chalk white, you think CCP would have caught that in the V3 Testing.

I go with chalk so I can play the game on my cheap laptop. Sad

They really are not green..

A pale teal at best

If they were green they would look much nicer. Gallente has a really boring colorscheme atm imo

Gallente used to be very green. Amarr tech II ships used to be very gold and the bright red highlights were beautiful. The old Khanid black was shiney. And there are many other examples of vibrant color from the past.

It seems the art department decided to go with muted and earth tones for just about everyone. I think it so they can later have aurum set for purchases of vibrant hull schemes.

Nothing wrong if that is the idea, except we don't have these available yet. Straight

Well, the shuttle used to be an awesome bright orange...

The Dominix used to be brown and a sort of brushed steel look.

The Phobos used to be pink (ok, it was only on SISI and well before Heavy Interdictors actually existed as a ship class).

The Tristan used to be a rather nice sandy colour.

The Gal newb frigate had the same brown/brushed steel as the previous Dominix.

While I appreciate CCP's newer art style for it's detail work, the V3 project also had a side aim of unifying the ship colours, which imo, wasn't a good thing.

I agree. I'd like more vibrant color schemes, more contrast as well.

- Gallente: t1 is grey+teal instead of vibrant green. I like all t2 hulls tho.

- Caldari: t1 is light grey. A short time after V3 they looked much darker, very nice. Kaalakiota should be really black + red imho. Then Ishukone, grey-gold anyone? Ugh What?

- Amarr: t1 was vibrant gold + dark black (engine parts below the golden hull). Now it's bronze and different shades of brown. I personally like the new Khanid scheme. But Carthum looked better before: gold + shiny red on top.

- Minmatar: t1 was reddish rusty, also shiny. Now it's brown and dull.

Just to make it clear: I really appreciate the huge effort CCP is expending to redo all objects (not only ships) in game. It's just the new color schemes I don't like most of the time. Ofc it's very subjective.

IIRC CCP has said that these are intermediate colours. Hues depend on lighting, and there are some lighting tweaks that can only be implemented when all assets are V3'd.

As many above have already said, I've always seen the gallente as green.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

I would definitely support a kind of light, military green. Not like camoflage... but more like the color you'd paint an experimental weapon or something. Or, alternatively, stick with the current color scheme and give the afterburners a bit of color. White is just so drab... it reminds me of Obi-Wan's lightsaber before Lucas figured out how to do a true blue color.

The white afterburners just scream 'hi, we're CCP and, apparently, we've run out of colors. So, we're going to take our most 'vibrant' race in terms of lore, and saddle them with white.'

I mean, really, doesn't white make more sense for the Caldari? That's the race that appreciates subtlety and efficiency over style.

Base color is fine.

The forest/jungle camo on the Navy ships though needs to go Roll

But, with the exception of the Amarr (whose Navy ships look like some kind of sun-bleached corpse that washed up on a beach), most of the Navy ships have that camoflage. While I realize that cammo would accomplish nothing in space, I like it because ti kind of heralds back to the paint jobs on warships in WWII. In fact, if anything, CCP should derive even more inspiration from that, and go with dazzle paint schemes like you might see on an HMS Repulse or HMS Prince of Wales.
