New Concept:
Moons are not static, they change over time.

New Concept:
Moons can be destroyed, and will dynamically repopulate with new random stats in a random system.

Benefit:
Increased defensive activity on all structures, increased motive to attack structures, more capitals deployed, more capitals destroyed.

Awesome moon exploding animation! Cool

EVE becomes even more sand boxy.

Questions?

When you see this moon get fixed then you can start talking about respawning moons.

Hey! Look what I found when I was rummaging through my old scribbles folder full of silly ideas:

Moon Prospecting Post

The Moon Prospecting Post (MPP) is a POS Module that allows to search for smaller deposits of valuable materials on moons and mine them.

The MPP has two modes it can run: Prospecting and Mining.

Prospecting takes somewhere around 8 hours (depending on balancing) after which the found deposit will be shown and the kind and amount of material available are given. What material can be found and how much is entirely random. The roll on the table is only modified by the security rating of the system the POS is set up and not by the type of moon. The MPP is completely independent from the moon seed. A result can be scrapped by restarting a new prospecting cycle.

The mining mode will function like a normal moon miner, maybe somewhat slower. The mined material will be stored in a small hangar in the MPP. Once the deposit is mined out or the hangar is full, the MPP will turn idle automatically. Silos and reactors cannot be attached to a MPP.

The MPP will be a non-static source of moon materials. While being limited in amount, unreliable and less efficient than the main deposits of the moons it will lessen the impact of moon material monopolies and widens the bottleneck of certain materials, like dysprosium.

The amount of MPPs that may be anchored at a POS need to be limited either by fitting requirements or a hard number to balance its significance with the static moon mining.

As the MPP is using its own code and tables, it is easier to implement than methods requiring modifications of existing seeds. It is basically a stand-alone module with everything integrated in itself and isolated from everything else, only tapping in the basic POS module functionality.

No more monopolies! Roll a die every 8 hours and try your luck !
(unless you are in a bad system, then no rares for you)

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Based on the fact that gazillion is not only indefinite but also fictitious, I disagree.

Wouldn't a moon have much more ehp and resists than multiple titans?

They're being mined consistently for months without end, so I'd say they would withstand a lot of firepower before exploding. Moon bashing would take weeks at least.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

moving or depleting moons will cause less fights not more . . .

I swear, some people need to think before they suggest . . .
