Networked Probe Launchers

A random thought and I figured I'd toss it up here for ridicule... err feedback.

We have core probe launchers and expanded probe launchers, what if a new type of launcher with a new skillbook was added.

Network Probe Launcher [HIGH]
Network Probe Controller [LOW]
Astrometric Networking [SKILL]

The concept is simple (in my mind). You have a group of people covering a system, each person fits a network probe launcher and launches their probes. They can then assign their probes to a single member of fleet that has a Network Probe Controller. This single person can then build a mesh / grid of probes (up to 100) [allowing for everyone in a squad to launch and assign up to 10 probes]. The numbers could be completely off, i'm just picking these for examples.

This would allow you to easily monitor the entire system with a much higher level of accuracy than a single person could do... potentially hitting 100% on a ship as soon as it pops-up or minimizing the number of times you need to reposition to get a ship to 100%

You'd need enough pilots to launch the probes and each pilot would have to recall their own probes.

Anyways, just a thought.

Good idea... and by feedback you mean trolling?

Jokes aside I like the idea, but when I read the topic I immediately thought of linking probe results rather than handing over direct control of the probes. That way everyone with a module could take an area to scan and the entire probing team could share results. Might be to overpowered but it's an idea.

MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.  -Garresh-

Shared results would be pretty cool too, maybe feed the results into the person running the controller for correlation. I just figure with one person responsible, you'd get better triangulation.
