subing a 21 day trial with a plex,.

pretty sure i already know the awser to this question. if i make a 21 day char and transfer isk for a plex to him and activate it. does he only get 30 days or 51 days of game time.

when you redeem a plex, you gain 30 days game time in addition to what you already had.
likewise, when you turn a trial in to a full account you keep the remainder of your trial along with the subscription you added to activate the account.

so you should, i assume, get 51 days.

you will get 30+[remaining trial]. So, anywhere from 31 (assuming only 1 day of trial time left) to 51 (PLEX'd soon as you logged in, or within 24h).

No. You do not get 30 days or 51 days for that PLEX.


You get 81 days for that single PLEX. 21 day trial + 30 days on new alt you used PLEX on + 30 days on the account that issued the buddy invite.

Oh, I knew what he was asking, and he'd already been answered correctly several times. So, I used the thread as an opportunity to make a point.


NO WONDER CCP has trouble retaining "new players" beyond the first 51 days. 90% of "subscribed accounts" that are less than 51 days old, are "free" alts created with buddy invites with no intention that they ever live beyond the 51 free days.

I assume you have irrefutable evidence of 90% of new accounts being throw-away's, or did you just make that up?

CCP says even they can't tie accounts to players. How would I know how many are throw away alts and how many are real players.

ofc CCP can tie accounts to players, that's why making throwaway alts will get your main banned.

don't make an alt just to use it 51 days and then forget it leaving it a -10... not a good idea.

please read the rules that are listed on the buddy system page...




  • The Buddy Program is intended for you to encourage new players to join EVE Online. Violating the purpose of the Buddy Program in any way or form is prohibited. Violations of this rule will be handled by EVE Online Customer Support, and action will be taken against players who violate this rule (including, but not limited to, warnings or bans of the offending accounts).


  • Abusing the Buddy System is considered an exploit and will not be tolerated. Incidents will be handled on a case by case basis and action taken may include bans for all accounts involved and/or confiscation of ISK and items. Abuse includes, but is not limited to, farming gifts and making throw-away alts for grief-play purposes.

CCP has said that they cannot tie accounts to people on the scale and with the comprehensiveness necessary to be able to answer various questions with statistics.

That's different from being able to say "these two accounts are probably owned by the same person," which CCP, without question, can do.

They seem to have no trouble identifying all of the accounts of someone they want to permanently ban from the game.

Pretty sure they changed that some time ago. Can't find the dev post for that right now but the Buddy Program Terms and Conditions now says:

In addition, CCP reserves the right not to reward you with PLEX (such as when a new Buddy account is upgraded using PLEX).


So that PLEX will give him +30 days, not +60 days.
