The new forums are terribroke, and here we are nearly on page 6 discussing that concept. So, I'm not seeing the anti-forum argument.

Regardless, CCP has proven historically that they don't care about aesthetic complaints (see in-game UI).

They will only respond to security threats. To that end, the OP proposes a reasonable albeit anarchic solution if you accept his POV.

Currently, does anyone know if CCP care about anything other than the other games they are developping?

lol they dont even care about the games. Theyre "staying the course"

Goons; infiltration at its best - first bob... now ccp itself. They dont realize you guys dot take this as "just a game". Bring it down guys, we're rooting for you.

I've spent some time today writing custom css for this terrible thing to at least make it usable.
If you want img tags in sigs and posts go here.

This piece of crap still sucks.
Some people at CCP web cell should get fired, but that won't happen because they're Hilmar's relatives.

You know Hilmar, developers do not always know better than the customers. As a general rule, yes, but at the moment CCP is showing the exception to the rule....

Hubris! It's even in the WoD books for crying out loud.

If there was a 'dislike' button, it would discourage some people from posting stupid **** or asking silly questions - they would feel bad.

Then there would nothing to fuel EVE forums.

Do you really want that to happen? Sad

Maybe for a pure forum junkie the ability to not maximize to full screen can be an issue. But when using the forum at work or from within the game I have no interest in it covering up all of my screen. There are tons of improvements here, a little loss of functionality but nothing that would make me prefer the old forum above this new one.

The forums are not as bad as I expected. Look at the good things:

  • You can subscribe to topics.
  • We now have a search funcion.

The bad: (for me)

  • The font is way to small (can be fixed in with CTRL +)
  • It is a lot slower than before.

It this worth raging about? No

But that's the whole problem: you have no choice. You cannot make it take up your full screen, but neither can you make it take up just a part of it (and still be readable). The old ones could because they had some flexibility in the layout that no longer exist with this fixed design.

Moreover, the old forums had options to alter at least some basic design stuff and then the rest of the forums conformed to this choice. Now, you have neither that option, nor any kind of adjustment based on such options.

All you're left with is the suboptimal choice of either using exactly the window size CCP wants you to use, or to scroll around a lot.

Akita and tippia the two biggest whinners of this community , it seem that according to those two ccp can do absolutely nothing right , everything ccp does or says is instantly critized by these two, no matter how well intended it is or how difficult it is to implement certain mechanics into the game, it just isn t good enough for them
makes you wonder why they still bother with eve ,
If you both think you can do a better job why don t you apply for ajob with ccp or better why don t you start your own company and create your own mmom, i wonder how far you will go

So this is permanence

Maybe you should actually read what we write every now and then. Both Akita and I happen to be rather common targets for being called CCP apologists…

Yeah, see… here's the thing. Intentions are nice and all but they are entirely worthless. What matters is execution. If I intend to give you a nice warm apple pie and instead give you third-degree burns all over your face, are you going to criticise my cooking or are you going to mumble “oh, but he meant well” once you lip transplants heal?

Did you really just assume that the majority of users don't like the new forums simply because you don't like them for some random technical reasons?

They are shiny and they work. That's all that's really needed.

I suggest you read up on Tippia and Akita's posts then. Most of the time they are extremly well formulated. They belong to the few people on the forums that think before they post.

You can't seriously expect CCP to run everything by committee.

I'm pretty impressed by the new setup. Perhaps I'm easily pleased.

But can we ask for some QA about stuff they release? Do they even listen to their customers?

We are paying subs for internet spaceships, not primary for forums, barbies in (minmatar) jail and horror patch days that force you not to bother logging in for days after.
All this stuff should be secondary, game-play first, fix goddamn hybrids, fix in-game problems (we have a lot of them).

If my employees let all known/reported bugs from test go live and screw up paying customers i would fire them or throw them into a volcano (i hear CCP has one nearby), it just goes to show how much attention Eve gets from CCP, like they barely make it work, release some crap that bugs all to **** and who cares....maybe they eventually patch it.

All I am saying, is get rid of Java.

Oh, and the ability to hide some of the forums would be nice(I don't want to dig through pages of item and character sales before getting to the forums worth reading)
