Hi ,
I recently had a maelstrom and soon it will be perfectly skill ready for level 4s.Is noctis worth it for looting and salvaging my level 4 missions since maelstrom was doing about 30 mins-1 hour to loot one mission cause of distances.

You'll get two answers:

1) The Noctis is the best salvager, the king of the scrap heap, get it, fit it, rig it, and make it yours immediately. You will vacuum up wreck fields in a tenth the time.

2) Don't salvage or loot because I don't salvage or loot because it's faster to blitz missions for rewards and LP. If you salvage you're playing the game wrong. Rabble rabble rabble.

My snark should indicate that I am in the first group. The Noctis is a beauty.

If you are going to loot and Salvage the Noctis is the absolute way to go.

Even at low skill you have massive Tractor Range and Pull Speed bringing things in from 60km+ away in less then a minute and can Salvage most things in 1-2 cycles which are faster. With an MWD it can move cap stable around 1km a second with enough cap to be tractoring and salvaging. It has a nice tank to deter Ganks (Unlikely) and NPC Ships that may Spawn while Salvaging. I have never had the cargo space run out on me whilst salvaging and taken the cargo expander off since drones stopped dropping Mins. If it does drop a few of the Cap Boosters that are definitely the problem they are practically worthless anyway.

You can clear a room of 30 wrecks that are 80km apart in about 5 or so minutes. It is the perfect ship for looting missions, a dream come true over my old tractor beam Catalyst.

I agree a friend or alt account in a noctis can net you 10-20m more per hour and at max skills with implants you should eat wrecks faster then you can make them i had a hard time in mach keeping the areas littered for my noctis pilots.

I've found that with L4 missions, on average, the salvage is usually worth about three or four times the sum total of all the bounties and the payout combined.

I use a Noctis on an alt account and drag it behind me when I run stacked Enemies Abound 3 of 5.

If you salvage, get a Noctis. You won't regret it.

Did you know that we can help you with the loot and salvage?

In case you don't want to learn skills/ no alt for salvaging, look for us in a system near you.

A Noctis is by far the best ship for salvaging.

Things cost several times what they used to, but mission rewards haven't changed. The actual mission pay is chump change and has been for years. While this used to be true, it hasn't been in a very long time.

Enemies Abound is the only mission I salvage myself, so I might use you for the rest. I note the split is 45/45/10 - I presume I would get 45%? How do I know you're not going to rip me off and either pay me a lesser percentage or not pay me at all?

while i do not use the services of pro synergy myself, i have been following their activities for a pretty long time now and they seem very well organized and serious about their operations. i do not think that it's in their interest to scam mission runners.

I should buy an Ishtar.

3) Launch a flight of 5 T1 Salvage Drones, and go AFK. With maxed drone range skillz they can salvage everything in a 60 km radius, and with Salvage Drone skill 4, all normal wrecks can be salvaged. If you want to increase your salvage range, fit a single +24 km drone range module (Drone Link Augmentor, I think it's called) in a HIGH slot, for a total radius of 84 km, and shift your ship a few km towards the largest cluster of wrecks before going AFK.

That way, you get all the salvage (minus any from special wrecks, although I believe those are at best very rare on level 4 missions, save perhaps in bonus pockets), but none of the loot.

Just some thoughts on Noctis fit in the highs:
Many use 4 salvages & 4 tractors. Just seems balanced and can be easier to keep track of.
I've found in the past that 3 salvagers and 5 tractors gets my salvage done quicker.
With the advent of salvager drones I'm finding that 2 salvagers, 6 tractors, and 5 salvager drones seems optimal.
Play with it and see what works best for you.

Some favour a 3/5 mix or a 5/3 mix, instead of 4/4. I can't remember which one it is I ended up liking, when I still noct'ed level 4 missions, except that it wasn't 4/4. So I suggest that OP buys 5 of each module, so he can experiment, see what he likes.

Also, upgrading to T2 Salvagers, for the higher salvage chance, is very worth it. 20% chance with T1 Salvagers and skill 4, but 35% chance with T2 Salvagers and skill 5. You'll salvage faster that way (although of course you won't get more stuff).

I stopped looting and salvaging (and mostly stopped doing missions) before T2 Small Tractor Beams came out, but there, too, upgrading to T2 is a significant range boost. The Noctis can already reach out to, I think it's 60 or more likely 80 km with T1 tractors, but it'll be much further with T2 ones, especially in terms of reachable-bubble volume. And I presume the faster tractor speed also helps get the job done faster.

If the Noctis can use drones (I can't recall if it can) then another possibility might be to fit all Tractors, and use Salvage Drones.

drones get a lot less useful if your mission runner is not your salvager. I run 5 t2 tractors and 3 salvagers, and just use the 5 drones as an extra salvage module.

the ratio of tractors to salvagers depends on your skills and your rigs. personally, i have my best experiences with a 6/2 setup.

I should buy an Ishtar.

The noctis is the absolute best salvage ship ever. Suck the wrecks in, chew them up, spit out the cans. Then eat the cans too.
I use five tractors to three salvagers, just out of preference/habit.

Also, fit a mwd! It helps so much when going between gates.
