So has Ring mining been tossed into the trash bin or is it going to take 4 years to develop?

I can't help but think of WiS development timeline being used as a template for the Ring mining timeline & if so maybe CCP should just stick a fork in it.

well if its goign to happen it wont be all at once... it will come instages... so perhaps 18 months is a respectable timeline?

I'm more interested in whether the colloquial term for ring mining will be "rimming".

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

There is a blaring reason I believe why they are 'taking thier time with it" but I don't want the topic shut down due to the silly rumor mongoring censorship rule that stifles freedom of speech & flow of ideas in the forums.

Soundwave made one throwaway comment about considering more bottom up and less top down income, and you're talking as if that was some specific fixed feature lined up for development and implementation.

The only problem here is you, and your poor grasp of reality and communication.

So, don't make it rumor mongering.

If you believe it, then there should be cogent argument supporting the belief (logical argument backed up by solid data).

If you were to say something like "CCP favors the goons so won't mess with their lock on tech"... well, then it is just rumor mongering. But, if you have more than that, like real data backing up a claim....

One throw away comment? Nice try at burying it. I don't by it.

I'm sure they'll get on it right after atmospheric flight is done

What are you talking about? The new nebulas provided all the "atmospheric" flight we ever needed.

What don't you "buy"?

But I hear that people are already planning on shooting a monument over it!

Why are you trying to ruin fun emergent gameplay??!

I was thinking "Ring Mining" will come in when "The Great Tech Nerf" (TM) is foisted upon EVE... afterall, ring mining is supposed to provide another source of moon mins.

Not that I'm holding my breath for any or all of that to transpire before I retire to Costa Rica... Roll

One thing that's clear from the CSM meeting minutes and the dev blogs: There is nothing big promised. No features announced as "this is coming, bet on it".

Closest thing would be the ship rebalance and the V3 project, which seems pretty clear will be continuing.

Everything else is in the quantum flux of states of probability.

Ring mining, POS Revamp, Farms and Fields, Atmospheric flight, WIS, Team Avatar's site explorations, tessellation ... all of these things may happen someday, or maybe never.

We'll get a better view when we see the next expansion, as that will start many of the long term improvement drives on specific fronts that Unifex talked about in his dev blog.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

Just make it possible to mine off the moon with a ship module, and the amount taken comes off the POSes mining amount - ie 5000 units taken = no pos mined recovery for 50 hours.

Hey presto, alliances have to be active in the space where they have moons to protect from opportunists. Would go a long way to fixing 0.0.
