Ice mining surplus build fuel blocks

I am starting to do some ice mining and looking to make the Gallente Fuel Block out of the Blue Ice and Planetary Materials.
When you refine the blue ice you get:
50x Heavy Water
25x Liquid Ozone
and in the blue print for the fuel price it takes a base of 150x of both Heavy Water and Liquid Ozone so of course you will start getting a good surplus of Heavy Water that will build up fast.

What else do you use Heavy Water for? or just sell it?

Thanks

sell it, it has use for some capitals, and other things.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I have done my math and for a Medium Gallente Control Tower you need these base materials per day
for large double these numbers for small half the numbers:

Aqueous Liquids 115,200
Base Metal 105,600
Heavy Metal 105,600
Ionic Solutions 115,200
Noble Gas 37,800
Noble Metal 163,200
Non-CS Crystal 48,000

Heavy Water 1,896
Liquid Ozone 1,896
Oxygen Iso. 5,040

Blue Ice 80 units:
Heavy Water 4.000 - 1,896 = 2,104
Liquid Ozone 2.000 - 1,896 = 104
Oxygen Iso. 24.000 - 5,040 =18,960

yeah, looks about right...

Your numbers are about right. But you will drive yourself nuts trying to mine enough high sec ice to meet all your needs. 80 blocks per day is 2400 blocks per month. I believe a max yield Mackinaw will pull in about 69 blocks per hour. That's about 35 hours of ice mining a month.

I do much the same as you, mine ice, build my own fuel blocks, fuel my POS, sell the excess. But I never pulled enough white glaze to meet the HW and LO needs.

The best option to keep your sanity is to sell excess isotopes and PI materials, and buy the needed HW and LO. Heavy water is not in high demand, so it is not worth much to sell in excess, but is very cheap to buy. For a medium POS you are only looking at about 100M worth of ice products for a months worth of fuel, and the isotopes are over half of that. Spending 50 mil a month to save you 27 hours of mining is a good trade off. Especially when that 50M is covered from excess products you already have to sell.

Do you really want to mine 2400 blocks of ice per month when you only need about 500 blocks per month worth of isotopes? Reduce your 35 hours of ice mining a month to 7.5 and sell 50M worth of excess products to buy your LO and HW.

You would have a massive amount of extra Heavy Water to sell, but it does not sell well. biggest consumption of heavy water is fuel for roquals, which does not create a huge demand.

With all 3 characters on an account trained for PI you can easily pull in way more PI products than you need for fuel. In fact with the low cost of ice products at the moment I can sell enough extra PI mats to pay for all my ice products, and not mine ice at all.

If you like mining ice, by all means do so, but only target 5-600 blocks per month, the extra iso's and PI products you sell can easily buy the Heavy Water and Liquid Ozone you need.

That's how much it takes per month? That's a surprisingly low amount of blocks, compared to how many you can make with a half-decent PI setup.
