Mining may still lead to ship loss. People like to kill mining ships.

As for profitability, my guess you are going solo. seek out a better corporation that will run missions as a group and help you understand why you are losing battleships in the first place.

Three Battleships? How did you manage that? I did a few lvl4 missions with a lolfit Dominix for laughs and didn't die.

Mixing up triggers or just low skills?

I do tend to understand that learning to play helps survivability.

Just because you have Battleship lvlx does not mean you should fly one.

I like stealing from other players. It's not the most profitable thing to do, but it sometimes leads to fun times.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

Fit ship for align, salvage, GTFO tank, and maybe some stabs.

Choose one of:
1. Gank small hauler
2. Find recent player battle site
3. Probe and enter player mission site
4. Fly a trade route

Open can, take contents, run like hell.

OPTIONAL: Salvage T2 wrecks for bonus space cash.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

Ive done level 4s in a T1 frigate just for lulz, how do you manage to lose 3 battleships?!

like many things in this game, you will find you will do drastically better if you study the nuance surrounding the area you choose to milk profit from.

For instance, Battleships run lvl 4's quite well, but you will want to make sure your DPS is over 400, that you are using mission specific hardeners (if in high sec), that you pay attention to the ships that trigger other ships to warp into your local space, that you pay attention to the Ewar and such that other ships are placing on you so you know when to gtfo, or stick around.

Also, make sure you are educating yourself on mission fits. You wouldnt want to slowly approach an enemy fleet to get within 15k to use blasters without an afterburner or a Microwarp drive. Also don't bother warp scramming NPC's as they won't warp out of missions. Make sure you are using your abilities correctly and that you aren't wasting time trying to hit frigates with large guns.

Once you start to see how the game is played, you will understand how you can react to situations a lot better without having trial and error losing BS's in lvl 4's. I would suggest going back to lvl 3's and using BC and doing more research into the missions until you understand all aspects, then moving into lvl 4's.

Sometimes, you can lose ships so fast that you might not really learn wtf you need to do to keep em. Damage can come sailing in if you aren't prepared.

google stuff like missions and fits if you are not sure. While google might be Caldari, they have services for all races.

Use it. Might also want to go check in the missions forum for what kind of fits you should be using for your ship. As the other posters have said, if you lost 3 bs's to l4 missions, you're either doing something horribly wrong, or you're just not skilled enough to be doing L4's

All that's left for you is station trading.

There is no activity in eve that involves undocking and does not involve losing your ship and/or pod. The sooner you get used to that the better.

Science and Trade Institute [STI] is an NPC entity and as such my views do not represent those of the entity or any of its members

Why do you need money? Earning money for no reason burns most people out. If you want to pvp, join a corp and fly a thrasher or whatever and blow stuff up, it only costs a few million and is easy to earn.

Also, besides trading and mining there is industry, you can build stuff and earn cash that way.

Don't rush straight to bigger ships thinking they'll help when you don't have the skills to fly them right. Make sure to read the mission report on Eve Survival to check what kind of tank you need, which rats are the tacklers so you can kill them first, and which rats trigger the next wave so you can kill them last.

Salvaging L4's done by people who kind of, well... no offense but... suck less at PVE? Blink L4's and harder content is kind of intended for multiple people, do them with a friend. Broadcast things that scram you. It's not that hard, just quit solo-ing.

The EVE Community is brilliant and helpful (though some remarks got removed from this thread here) and so it is no wonder that we have exactly what this thread is asking for:

Just because you can fly a BS, doesn't mean NPCs and other people will magically die at the sight of your awesomeness. You actually still need to learn to play the game.
