In the discussion of the launcher changes CCP Aporia has been answering questions. CCP Aporia signature is

Huh?

There still is a Team Avatar? I thought it died months ago! This brings up all sorts of questions:

Why does team avatar still exist?
Why do they need a senior programmer?
What, if anything, have they been doing for the last several months?
Will we get to hear about anything new, or see it on Sisi anytime soon?

Team Avatar still exists, there just arent any devs on it.

someday there might be, but not until the excessive butthurt peeps realize social interaction is in fact a FUN feature (back in the early days of SWG, people would spend hours a day just sitting around cantinas RP'ing or just chatting with eachother, while tohers made fools of themselves trying to b cool on the dancefloor)

ya know, you can say that, but i live in wormholes. i dont even get to see captains quarters, i just think any content that allows gameplay for some without negatively impacting the gameplay abilities of others, is good content, regardless of scope or purpose.

Its a stealth campaign so CCP has a team to blame if they accidentally end up wasting millions again Lol

who still uses drakes? go Tengu/Legion, you can fit those things to perma-tank C3 sleeper sites, only about 800mil on a expensive day. or for pvp, they can get amd DPS with an alright buffer tank, and multi-range engagement support, again making them both ideal compared to the drake.

Wait, am I talking about the right Team Avatar?

Long ago the four nations lived in harmony. Then everything changed when the Sansha Nation attacked. Only Team Avatar master of all four racial customizations could stop them but when EVE needed them most, they vanished. A hundred years have passed (Soon) and my brother and I have discovered the new Avatar a Gallente named Bayesian. Although his character bending skills were great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe, Bayesian can save the world!

There needs to be a solid business case for it. Otherwise it is pointless content (No matter how appealing) from the perspective of CCP. I still believe that the reason we're not seeing a fleshed out Team Avatar is because there is no business case for it - or rather - no monetary incentive for CCP to buy into it. (Unless they have the cash reserves to do something like that as a fun project out of their R&D / play budget) but ... then we'd have seen something, right?

No amount of bleating on the forum will change that; unless you can actually put a solid business plan in front of CCP. And yes, I know, "It will be enjoyed by a lot of players" (That are already paying subscriptions) and "It will attract more players" (To what, a game that is playing second fiddle to EVE Online?)

I still believe it needs to be a new game in the EVE Universe, conceptually like Dust, but targeted at the social market - yet done in such a way there is cross-over and the ability for capsuleers to use one client to access both games. (Had a link in my signature to a proposal for that, but Malcanis stole it)
