In that case can you guys PLEASE make a more procedural system for applying the skins of various factions to ships?

I am NOT looking forward to the system that has given us half a dozen different catalysts.

Even if every skin still has to be hand made by and art devs I would much rather it just be a fitting slot so I can change my ship skin without having to tear off all my rigs and get a whole new ship.

Here's how CCP can make some money with it too:
- Create a "Paint Nexus Chip" similar to the ones used for navy ships already, put it on the NeX store
- Add corporate skins to the LP store for that corp that require a few 1000 LP (number up to change of course) and the chip from the NeX store.

Not only do you create a new market you also drive the universe to change. Imagine how many people will be running Quafe missions!

You give life to all those NPC corps that no one cares about because they either didn't have many security agents at all or their agents were in weird locations.

Each ship can have a set of skins allowed on it (so for instance only Gallente based ship can have Gallente corp skins) and they could all reuse the selection window that T3s have for previews. Instead of subsystems we could select skins to preview it :D

Does every variation HAVE to have a *.red associated with it? The textures files are every much a variable as any other stat on a ship, a list of the valid skins could be just as much a DB item as the rest of the stats are.

Perhaps use a system similar to rigs? Instead of size you have a "Faction" type. In the same way that a catalyst can only fit small rigs it would also only be able to fit Gallente and Serpenstis faction skins. That way the skins can be categorized on the DB easier!

Oh also another idea. What if each ship had 3 anchor points on it that could show visual representation of rigs? That would be AWESOME.

- Armor rigs could look like armor plates
- Navigational rigs could look like tiny extra thrusters
- Electronics rigs could have hubs with electronic traces running through and pulsing
- Weapon rigs could be like little radar towers, scanning for targets

We could finally customize the appearance of our ship with rigs! You'd be able to tell a guy is going all out on extra speed cause you'd see the auxiliary thrusters he added to his cepter.

Or know to get the **** away from the abaddon cause he has plates added.

And finally the 3rd idea for the art devs. I had posted this in a F&I section for the big official module idea thread but besides a few likes I think it got burried.

The idea is to have art devs apply turret designs for all of the other highslots. I wanna see logi, neuts, cloaks, gang linksprobe launchers etc sticking out of my ship.

All the ships have already had their hardpoints sorted out with Incarna so that EVERY highslot has an associated model anchor, just continue making more :D

The things like the probe launcher could be fit to it's own special single slot kinda like bomb launchers today while everyone else can just follow the dual turret design. Cloaks could actually deploy a bubble the emanates from the two turret points, drone link augs could be little control centers with flashing lights, gang links could make tiny pulses similar to the old school sensor booster when active.

They're not supposed to be PVP battleships, at least not according to their original design. Hence the active tank bonus and the low sensor strength.


Resist bonus does not automatically equal PvP. Incursions require a high EHP, and the active tank bonus is useless there. Resist bonuses if done right can lead to just barely less than the same end effect as an active tank bonus for those choosing to active tank.

Alright, you can cut down the drone bay provided I get leather upholstery and plenty of drinks holders. Deal?

No, but I'd LOVE to see a slight redesign in the art that allows for a medium (250mm, or larger ?) railgun to positioned exactly in front of the conning tower.

Ok, what about more duct tape for the Matari?
I may not use Minmatar ships all the time, but when I do, I use them with duct tape.

While it is a daunting task, I agree that all T2 ships have unique models that are based off their T1 counterparts.
