hey there

i was wondering:

I am sitting in a navy domi and have the following modules fitted:

shadow serpentis energized EM Membrane -> -43,124% em resists
shadow serpentis Armor EM Hardener -> -55% EM resists

Skillwise I have
EM Armor Compensation III foranother 15% Hardener Bonus.

How come that my overall Resists are just 86% ?

thx in advance

ah i see. so if i understand it correctly, its not the mod / module type but the actual bonuses that get the stacking penalty applied.

so no matter what i fit, (except damage control) all mods that give me em-armor-resis...

I'm not the greatest with all the formula's but I think I can help your understanding progress at least.

Firstly, resists gains are about bridging the gap between your current resists and 100% resists, they are not about adding to your current resists.

Lets take you SS EM Membrane for example:

At base it provides 37.50% Resist Bonus. The reason it appear as 43.124% is because of your EM Armor Compensation skill, which is not 15% at Level III, it is 9% (3% per level)

100% - 37.50% = 62.50%

62.50% (the gap to 100%) X 9% (you skill bonus) = 5.625%

37.50% + 5.625% = 43.125%

So that is how that resist comes about.

The EM Hardener has a base resist of 55% when activated. The compensation skill does not apply.

So putting it all together:

Your Domi has a base EM resist of 50%

So we have 50% gap to 100% that is unresisted when we start.

The EM Hardener is applied: (100% - 50% = 50%) * 55% = 27.50%

So your resist is now 50% base + 27.5% from the EM Hardener = 77.50%

Now we add the EM Membrane, which we already worked out gives 43.125%.

However there is a stacking penalty (see links from other post), so this module is only 86.912% effective

43.125% * 86.912% = 37.481% effective resist bonus from this 2nd module.

Again this is about the gap to 100%, so.

100% - 77.50% (this is the current resist after EM hardener applied) = 22.50% unresisted gap.

22.50% * 37.481% (the effective element of the EM membrane) = 8.433%

77.50% + 8.433% = 85.935%

And there you have it an 86% resistance to EM damage.

Hope you can follow that lol.

Taka.

37.50% + 5.625% = 43.125%

So putting it all together:

Your Domi has a base EM resist of 50%

And there you have it an 86% resistance to EM damage.

ok seems correct and make sense, and i dont want to smartass too much but in the skill descritption it says
"5% bonus to explosive resistance per level for Armor Coatings and Energized Platings"

anyways. guess i have to live with it :-)

Ahh, ok you're right. It was DT when I wrote the post, could'nt check some things.

So, your 15% bonus is applied. Your 43.125% bonus it's simply 37.5% base * 1.15 = 43.125%

Apologies.

Taka.
