The ships of EVE are ALL beautiful, just refine them

Seeing a couple of threads claiming that there are "ugly" ships in EVE and asking for complete "makeovers" - usually in the direction of braindead symmetrical penises with wings, and removal of anything that might be characterful, evocative or mysterious.

No, no, no, a thousand times no!!!! All that's needed is refinement and perfection of what we have.

The varying characters, the assymetries, the semi-organic nature of Gallente, the fetishistic nature of Amarr, the jerry-built nature of Minmatar and the functional boxy nature of Caldari - are all just perfect as they are.

We do NOT need the ship design in EVE to fall to the same "boring generic movie s-f" bag that the clothing has. Please CCP, just say no.

What DOES need to happen with the ships is some sort of rationalization of the detailing.

For example, at some point there seems to have been a rash of "putting little windows everywhere gives a sense of scale" on the part of the designers. To an extent that's true, but on the other hand, having lots of little windows also invites the question "what the **** are they for"? Often they just seem to be randomly dotted around.

And it also invites questions about the scale of ships RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER. Sometimes it seems as if the designers are working in isolation and not with each other on some common template for size.

For example, the Deimos, the model is great, but there are far too many windows - what is this, a ******* pleasure cruiser or something? But not only that, the too-many-windows are also too small, which throws off the scale of the Deimos relative to, say, the Imicus, which has a few, well-placed windows.

Stuff like that - detailing, gradual improvement in texture resolution (to match the highly detailed turrets we have now) and some kind of rationale for "bits", that's all that needs to be done to the ships of EVE.

Trinity already "Caldarified" things too much, please don't keep going in that boring, movie s-f direction any more.

Why would i refine my ships? I have no use for ore.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

No surprise there that the high-sec pubbies and other terrible players with dumb ideas of Eve Online are very uncreative.

I love the Luxury Liner look. It is deceptively friendly looking but the model makes her look like a Shark.

How dare you impugn the beauty and majesty that is the Dominix, sir!

It's called a "Dominix", it's huge and it looks like it DOMINATES. It's a giant upside-down boot. Deal with it.

I like the general style of the ships but it's true they need updating. I'd like thought given to the function of ships as war machines, i.e. gun placement, exposed trunking etc.

I'd also like tech 2 models to be significantly different to tech 1 etc.

....and lots more ships Big smile

Caldari have the most ugly ships. Gallente are ok except for the Exequror and maybe the Dominix, Minmatar have charm (barring the Typhoon) and Amarr look badass (gimme an EoM Apocalypse please, complete with hybrid bonus :D)

before I had a Scorpion, it was before it had a Model update, I dislike how lopsided it was so I sold it to some random buy order, now that the model looks updated and it looks amazing, I actually regret selling it and I want to buy another one cause it looks amazing. Not all ships need updating, but the biggest eyesores definitely go to Caldari.

Also Caldari is all about power and efficiency, so why do all their ships look terribly inefficient!

And like what somebody said before, symmetry is often paired with beauty. Most of Eve's ships are good, but oh god please fix Caldari.

The thought of being dominated by a space turd is quite disturbing.
