I'm thinking of setting up a POS for some reactions in a quiet low sec system, but I'm not sure if I need standings for low sec towers. Anyone happen to know off the top of their heads?

I think standings are not required, although starbase charters may still be required? idunnolol.

Standings are only required in .5 or higher.

Except those put in place by other players. This is the important thing to remember. Any tom, ****, or goon could roll up with a few dreads, reinforce it, and wander off. Then come back when the stront runs out and pop it.

This is why it is a good idea to learn your local super fleets or pirates, and how to get in contact with them. They likely couldn't care less about your tower, but if there is the mention of dreads or other targets to shoot at, and you can get the tower to tackle some of them, or you can light a cyno yourself in something tanky, you can get your own mini Asakai going.

This.
Been in lowsec alliances myself that set blues to people that regularly, or ever, give fights. If you ever get RF'd, contact them with the time it's coming out of RF.
Or, hire a merc alliance to protect you. Depends on your investment, really, how much effort you put in.
