Hey all,

Wonder if anybody can help me.
I run EVE with the following specs.

AMD Phenomâ„¢ II x 4 955 processor
7 GB RAM DDR 3
GTX 460 1 GB
2 x Samsung Synch master 24 inch Full HD screens. (windowed mode stretched to 3960 x 1080)

When I just fly in space no problems at all, FPS around 40-60
As soon as I hit combat (not even fleet fight but rats) the frame rate drops dramatically, sometimes its even around 15fps

I run everything on full detail as I think that's the best way to play and my computer should be able to handle.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks
regards
Rob

The EVE client sometimes locks itself into a fixed frame rate. I believe this is some quality assurance code, which caps the frame rate when it encounters an instability in the frame rate. It can be triggered by ALT-TABing to a different application that uses a lot of CPU.

If you have other applications running in the background then stop these and see if it helps.

You do have the latest driver and tried different settings, yes?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

I have indeed the latest drivers and tried different settings. Ill try to see if anything with a lot of CPU is running in the background without me knowing it.

Were you in an area with clouds? Some cloud effects can kill FPS more than just about anything in EVE, even a tiny patch of cloud can bring your GPU to it's knees. If that's the problem, try zooming out, it'll lessen the FPS hit from clouds. (but yeah, that somewhat defeats the purpose of turning your graphic details to highUgh)

Some posts related to the clouds problem:
I haven't seen a Clouds topic in a while. Let's talk about Clouds.

There are several possibilities to adjust graphics settings (i.e. remove drone models). Additionally I'd make sure that the latest driver is working.

Yeah, drop the resolution down, 3960x1080 is just too much for a single 460 to handle.
