Speak it into existence...

I will be greater than Grendell.

Some day.

I'm going to build the Goldman Sachs of EVE.

Just you watch.

You have to speak it man. Speak it into existence. Type out your goals so you can see them.

I'm going to have more money than Grendell.
More women than Varius (and when this Extenze finally gets here, I'll have a bigger schlong).
I will have more market knowledge than Candy.
I will have more mindless drones than Mittani.

Not sure who the bg shots are among you traders, but those 3 come to mind for me as from my view they're pretty successful.

My goals for 2013. Eat it.

Wiggles is comin' baby! With a ***kin vengeance!

Uh...does anyone know where I could get an obelisk the cheapest...kinda...on a budget here.

Eve will be dead by the time you have as much isk as Grendell...but best of luck.

Edit: Also selling Quafe Epeen Extenders(+5% to Epeen, -25% to RL girls) 1.1mill per...just saying.

These may as well be farts in the wind but I have had a few beers since the start of this thread.

Grendell is not great because he's rich.

Grendell is great because he's trusted. It's a not so subtle difference. Anyone can farm ISK, an handful are trusted in EvE.

If you trust anyone in EVE, you're an idiot.

Hell, if you trust anyone in life period, you're an idiot in my book. I don't trust anyone but myself. My way of thinking is that if a person has yet to betray me, that person simply has yet to come into an irresistible opportunity.

I don't give a damn how nice he seems or how many times he's had the opportunity to screw someone and didn't.

Those are the best of scams; when the mark trusts you with all that he has. Grendell is probably simply biding his time, and I don't blame him one bit. When he finally pullsthe rug from under you folks it will be a sight to see.

...lol...trusting someone you don't know have never seen and couldn't get any sort of revenge if/when he screws you.

I'm pretty sure you can trust a person who saved your worthless life irl though. He / she could have gone by and save him (-her)self time.

... or you think about calculated risk and only:

- risk what you can afford to lose.

- gauge what's the probable "thresold" beyond which a person would cash in and invest before it happens. Discard evident scams, the average MD intelligent scammer will go to 10-30B before cashing in and it usually takes 3-4-5 investments. One can see the first 1-2 to be completed (to be sure the guy is not an evident "I took you 1B lol I am smart" scammer) and then take 1-2 with a decent chance they'll end well.

Even then, with your over-distrustful mentality we'd still be stuck at cultivating farms.

No. WIthout laws to hold people accountable, we'd still be "cultivating farms." There are no such laws in EVE, so an "over-distrustful mentality" is warranted.

In my country we have laws but they are not enforced at all. We still fumble about and go ahead!

Jokes aside, I am *cautious* but being over distrustful makes for a closed mindset, an "I am surrounded and they are all out to get me" mentality that brings no joy.

Most of all it makes the over distrustful person look like they don't know how to move around and mitigate damage while still going strong, to get profits while balancing them with risks. That is, it's a reflection of their hedgehog stance, an inability to adapt and to dare more than a due diligence. Basically, a scared carebear.

Edit:
We have alliances with thousands of pilots, in many of them all it takes is a rogue director to bring in devastating damage. Yet they still go strong. Even the largest alliances rely on trust. The secret? Their leaders know that calculated risk yields to a great potential. Leaders trust a circle of people, despite it's EvE and it works.

Yes, laws are the only thing preventing antisocial behavior. For sure.

For sure.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Who's the biggest idiot ,

the one who handles with an e-honor code or the one who can't even give some trust in a fantasyworld?

Man, I have tried to talk so many things into existance :P

Self Flipping burgers ( the vector and flip velocity could not be controlled, resulting in half cooked beef pieces being projected around the kitchen )

The automatic pilot ( blowup dolls cannot fly planes. And should not be trusted to do so )

Self replenishing candy ( this one actually worked. But I ended up eating enough sugar to make a sperm whale hyperglycemic. So I threw the candy into the Arabian sea to hide the evil )

yes

I talked my sex life into existence, it's gotta have some utility...

I'll never understand people paying 15 a month for a MMORPG when they don't understand roleplayers.
