Need help on Prophecy PvE fit

Hi there,
I could really use some help with fitting my newly purchased Prophecy as I don't really have any experience with ship fitting. In the past few weeks I just copied loadouts from battleclinic.com without really knowing their intended use. Oops

However, since the battlecruisers revamp I haven't found any updated loadouts for this ship yet, so I had to put my own
brains to work. [oh the horror]

My goal is to run L3 missions in Amarr space (preferably without having to warp out and recharge/heal up all the time). This is what I eventually came up with for my low skill point (3mill) character:

Highs:
- Focused Modulated Energy Beam
- Focused Modulated Energy Beam
- Focused Modulated Energy Beam
- Focused Modulated Energy Beam
- Salvager I
ammo: multifrequency/microwave/ultraviolet

Medium:
- Cap Recharger II
- Cap Recharger II
- Cap Recharger II
- 10MN Microwarpdrive I

Lows:
- Armor EM Hardener I
- Armor Thermic Hardener I
- Medium Armor Repairer II
- Drone Damage Amplifier II
- Drone Damage Amplifier II
- Heat Sink II
- Heat Sink II

Rigs:
- Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
- Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
- Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Drones:
- 5x Hobgoblins II

Some questions I have:

  • Should I mix different types of drones? What other drones might come in handy for L3 missions?
  • What should I start training for next? Go for tech2 guns and ammo or perfect armor tanking skills first?
  • Are level 3 missions going to be a lot harder compared to 2? I heard someone saying that the gap between 3 and 4 is pretty huge but what about 2 to 3?

Any tips/advice on how to improve is very much welcome! Thanks!

I'm a low skill level pilot(3m) flying a prophecy in level three missions.
I have it loaded with medium and light T2 drones.

Using heavy missile launchers (4 Advanced Limos Heeavy Missile Bay 1) with various ammo (scourge or Mjolnir)
Drone Link Augmentor (extends another 20 km range of drones)-no hiding now

2 x cap recharger II
Drone navigation control 1
Experimental 10 mn afterburner 1 ( I dont have max core skills yet, and am .5 cap short for an omni directional tracking unit if I switched out burner.

Med Armour Rep II
Armor Hardener I (damage specific)
Armor Hardener I of different type
Damage control II
3 x Drone Damage Amp II

My drones eat stuff up. When they start taking damage, send them back home and send out a new one.

Edit: To some of your question, the drones put out different damage types. Look up the mission and determine what damage you need to put out and what damage to tank.

Right now im in a skill training stretch for T2 medium lasers for my harbinger. My missile skills suck right now but the drones more than make up for it and every level three misison that I have tried so far was easy...except this one with a battleship. It had a nasty tank on it and I did not have enough DPS.

Edit 2: With this set up I have 13 mins of cap but I have never run out as I only use afterburner when I need it.

Let me try:

[Prophecy, New Setup 1]
Medium Armor Repairer II
Reactive Armor Hardener
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

10MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

Heavy Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M
Drone Link Augmentor II

Medium Drone Speed Augmentor I
Medium Drone Durability Enhancer I
Medium Energy Locus Coordinator I

Hammerhead II x5
Hobgoblin II x10
Salvage Drone I x5
Hammerhead II x10

--

Tune down to meta items if you can't fit T2.
Should even be cap stable without lasers on (they're only supplemental anyway, most damage comes from your drones).
The tank is optimized against Sansha's/Blood Raiders which are common in Amarr space, this combo (EM+Therm+Reactive) will get you the most res out of the slots. Switch for other mods as necessary.

Edit: Can also go with Heavy Missiles, but will probably need a CPU rig.

Ok here is roughly what I have off the top of my head for my prophecy, I am training to use T2's at the moment still, well more like I am too lazy to buy the ones I am trained for as I have no problem with T1s in my lvl 3 missions.

High
250mm prototype gauss gun [Tungsten Charge]
250mm prototype gauss gun [Tungsten Charge]
250mm prototype gauss gun [Tungsten Charge]
XR-3200 Heavy Missle Bay [Scourge Heavy Missle]
XR-3200 Heavy Missle Bay [Scourge Heavy Missle]

Medium
10mn Experimental MWD I
Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array
Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array
Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array

Low:
Damage Control I
Drone Damage Amplifier I
Experimental Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane (take advantage of the amrmor resistance of the ship)
Experimental Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Medium 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Medium 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Experimental Armor Explosive Hardener

Rigs
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Drones: (this is where categories come in handy in the drone UI
7 Hobgoblin I
7 hammerhead I
3 Ogre I (bandwidth only allows 3 at once)
5 Salvage Drones (to make up for no salvage tool, these aren't that bad, just suck if you explore, which my ship doesn't do)
3 Light armor maintainence drones ( to repair my drones between groups)

I have no problems with lvl 3s at all

The adaptive armor is great with the ship's passive armor resistance boost from skills.

I have the explosive hardener as 3 of the adaptives weaken each boost a lot.
Usually all around with my skills and everything I have at least 60% armor resistance on all damage types, and with the hardener activated my explosive resistance is 77%.

For PVE you can tank like a boss and of course swap out that one hardener slot if you wish, but this is pretty good all around.

The main 2 damage types it seems enemies are weak to mostly are thermal and kinetic so I use my hybrid turrets to deal thermal damage and I usually have kinetic equipped for my missles, but also carry interchangable ammo depending on the enemy faction's weakness.

Use http://eve-survival.org until you have a better idea of what each mission will throw at you.
It is IGB friendly, so no need to alt-tab out.

It will list the damage type that the NPC's do, which is important information
always make sure you fit your tank according to this data.

eg
The Blockade: Blood Raiders
Damage dealt -> EM & Therm

so you would fit 2EM+1TH resistance modules for a decent tank

Hislots
Fit either 4x HML or 4x Lasers .. use which ever you have the better skills for (missiles use no Cap, Lasers use LOTS)

Midslots
Fit a 10mn Afterburner for mobility
and 3x Capacitor rechargers

Lowslots
use 1x Med Armour Repairer
and 3x [mission specific] resistance modules
add 3x drone damage amps

Rigs
Will depend on your Cap needs from tank & weapons
0-2x Auxilary Nano Pump
1-3x Cap Control Circuit

Drones
[Group 1] 5x Hobgoblin (25mb)
[Group 2] 5x Hammerhead (50mb)
[Group 3] 5x Salvage Drones (25mb)

fill dronebay with spares of each type

You may be tempted to use 2x Heavy, 2x Medium & 1 Light drone to make maximum use of the 75mb bandwidth
(which only works really well in EFT), resist that temptation.
Heavy Drones do negligable DPS to smaller ships (Frigates/Cruisers)
Light Drones do negligable DPS to larger ships (BC's/BS)

Drones will be your major source of damage. the lasers/missiles are unbonused and therefore tertiary in priority

For ideas on training .. getting Tech 2 drones should be your main aim, including drone interfacing 4 (you only really need to train 5 if you decide to make heavy extensive use of drones)
then get Tech2 Capacitor and Tanking modules sorted

finish off with [xyz weapon] specialisation ...

by the time you have trained this far you will probably have the skills to move into a battleship and pilot/fit it comfortably.

Thanks guys for all of your suggestions! I will change and update the fit accordingly and also focus my trainingplan on maximising drone, cap and tanking skills.

If you check the Info option on most ships there is a [recommended] tab
it lists the Certificates that make that ship easier to fly and fit
which for the Prophecy it lists

Core Competency Standard
Armour Tanking Standard
Combat Drone Control Standard

(these skills will easily transfer to Amarr battleships, and Gallente Drone Ships (Dominix etc), the Core skills apply to ALL ships which makes them kinda important.)

whilst not listed themselves add, dependig on your initial weapon choice.
Turret Control & Cruiser Energy Turrets Standard
or
Missile Control & Cruiser Launcher Control Standard

I've been working on refining a fit(s) for Prophecy, as I always really liked the appearance of this ship, but it offered nothing before that I had any use for.... but now its right up my alley of preferences.

with this starting fit:

High:
1x Drone Link Augmentor

Mid:
2x Cap Rechargers
1x Omnidirectional Tracking Link
1x Drone Navigation

Low:
2x Medium Armor Rep
2x Active Hardeners
2x Drone Damage Augmentor
1x Cap Power Relay.

(all T2 or meta 4)

Rigs:
2x CCC
1x Nano Pump

now, with this, (at least with my skills, blah blah) you can add 4 Artilliery Cannons, Railguns, or HML's, and be cap stable with the dual reps.

with Rails, (and this seems to be my personal preference) one of the Cap Rechargers can be replaced with a Large Cap Battery.

for more damage, can replace 1 armor rep, both cap rechargers/cap battery, with a Drone Damage Aug, second Omnidirectional, and a Target Painter, I believe this can also be interchangable with artys, rails, or HML's equally.

for drones, I 've been carring:
4x Garde II
5x Hammerhead II
10x Hobgoblin II
5x Salvage Drone I

should probably switch it to 3 garde's and some more spares since rather unlikely to need a replacement sentry.
