Since the patch even if i deselect "Use tracking camera" my camera still tracks stuff even if I have it disabled.
It's driving me nuts!

You might want to press "c" and then disable the shortcut for the tracking camera or change it to something not as easily clicked by accident.

Edit:

Also there is the options menue of the selected items window with an option to track the selected item while the tickbox in the scanner toggles the tracked item to be either viewed through the center of your ship (ticked) or off center giving you a better view of the object (unticked). The latter can be further adjusted with the option "set tracking on screen position" in the selected item window options. To do that you basicly move the quadrant materializing on your screen. The part of the screen you move it to, will be where the item you look apon will be in space.

"c" toggles the tracking on and off. If on, it is using the preferences from the scanning window and your "set tracking on screen position" preference. Toggling the checkbox in the scanner window will then toggle between the modes, going back to off center when unticked. Pressing "c" again stops tracking.

On the other hand, if you tick the box in the scanner window without having activated the tracking via "c", the item will be tracked with the centerview and unticking it will stop tracking alltogether.

This is quite confusing, because due to this behavior you can end up with a checked box in the scanner window, but no tracking occurs (in which case you'd have to untick and then tick it again for tracking to happen). Or not knowing that there is a second way to track stuff, you could end up with an unchecked box, but tracking does occur, like in your case.item.

I was finding that you can uncheck the tracking box in the overview, but if you then go to your d-scan and it has it's tracking box checked, it will turn tracking back on.

since unchecking both, it's thankfully stayed off.
