Been playing EvE off and on for years and wondering what a good solo pvp ship might be. Not sure what I am looking for, but wanted suggestions for a cheap easy to fit ship I could learn the ropes in.

Most of it not all the revamped T1 frigates and cruisers TBH.

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

So what did you do during all of your "on" periods, spinning pod in station?

Condor (or any of the 'T1 Interceptors') is probably your best bet.
Cheap, fun, tanky, quick, newbie friendly as no tracking/cap issues and looks like a robot's groin. Also surprisingly effective.

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Step 1: Pick a race, either for a reason or at random

Step 2: Train its frigates to V

Step 3: Pick a ship from its frigate lineup

Step 4: train the weapons and systems it's bonused for

Step 5: FW or RvB.

I don't often quote for truth but this says it all.

Most T1 frigates can now fight well. Pick one you think you'll enjoy then get cracking :)

I've been following this advice for the past few month (also been playing on and off, took Agony Unleashed Basic PVP Class few years back, did some NULL corp action as well), but it doesnt end well

but right now it just seems that every time I try to find a fight (and mind u I do solo, so as "fair" as it can get, no boosts, ect) either of the following happens:

1) PPL dont engage, even if im in a stupid t1 frig
2) PPL end up killing me 1v1, when I check KB's I end up sitting there with a "WTF - expression" as they end up being top ranked
3) Everyone flies a Navy/Faction frig these days, and its impossible to kill them in a "regular" t1 frig.

I dont want to join RvB and I am already "technically" in FW - cuz I go to Novice plexes when looking for fights.

Any advice? (feel free to check and comment on my KB on battleclinic)...should I move up a bit and fly pricier ships?

FYI - I don't consider myself a pro or anything, but I am fairly well versed in how PVP works... yes, I havent flown every frig sized ship yet, so I dont know how every one of them feels - should I try flying (and therefore losing, at some point) every frig-hull to get better at it?

Go to Amamake and ask for a 1v1. Join fleet with the Heretic and proceed to either survive or die in an honored 1v1.

-Liang

Ed: Also, go to a novice FW plex and warp into the beacon. Keep a watch on D-Scan at 10M and see if anything's coming in.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

I've had quiet a bit of fights with the Heretics in Amamake btw... they're a cool crowd, had few nice chats with one of their newer member

FW? RvB? Is really frigs the best for pvp?

If you want to solo with an absolute minimum of wanting to bash your head against the desk frustration

yes frigates are the best. Least chance of linkfags, least chance of blobfags.

But killing people with links and blobs behind them is all the more fun!
