My idea is for a mid slot module that you could fit that, when activated and with a 15 second delay, would detonate your ship in a massive explosion damaging ships around it. This module would be an AOE weapon similar to a smartbomb but with greater range and damage... maybe similar to a bomb. Activating this module and destroying your ship also destroys the loot... AND THE POD! That's right! No eject for you if you activate the module. In this way fleets of cheap kamakazee destroyers with self-destruct modules warping into fleets will be a possible tactic, but not a viable or efficient one.

  • Idea The self destruct module is the ultimate middle finger for the bitter pirate victim.
  • Idea This module increases the sink rate of ISK, as loot is destroyed in the blast (ISK sinks +1)
  • Idea Possibly limit class of ships that can fit this to cruiser or above?
  • Idea No ejecting. No saving the pod. Using this mod is a commitment and has significant drawbacks.

No, thank you. Either you win or you die trying. Suicide is for depressed people only.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Lost modules are not an isk sink.

Gewns are gonna be OP with this module...

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

Make it kill the pod as well to turn it into an isk sink.

I like the idea.
Make the strengh of the explosion depend on the Reactor and the Cap of the Ship, so the bigger the Ship (or the bigger the reactor), the more damage you do. When you´re going down, then why not take the others with you^^ (they still may survive, you don´t)

I totally agree with this.

As pointed out, destroyed modules are resource sinks, not isk sinks.

Now I love the idea of a Fireship in EvE. I just think there should be a couple of tweaks to your idea to balance it a little better:

1: It's a weapon, therefore make it a high slot module.Too many ships have too few mids as well, so keeping it as a high makes it more accessible for more people.

2: Make it sized based, like rigs. Not only does this cover the fact a bigger ship should have a bigger explosion, but it also means that the module is just as accessible regardless of ship size/class.

3: I would not just base it on capacitor, but mass as well, including cargo mass. (..."but MWDs increase mass"... and if they are active when the thing goes off, then they can enhance the explosion!"

4: Fuel. I am not suggesting that the module should consume a fuel, but I think certain cargo should enhance its effect. Reactive metals, rocket fuel, nuclear reactors, ammo and other wonderful stuff should increase it. Maybe things could reduce it too. I don't know.

5: To prevent massive over abuse, keep it out of highsec. As mentioned above, Goonswarm would love to stick a load of disposable ships in front of trade hub undocks and wreak havoc, as would several other entities. Bombs, Capitals and other items a security restricted, this should be too.

Other that that, I totally agree with the destruction of the pod being a necessity.

I like your idea better Hakan... better thought out. I agree with all of it... especially that it should be a high slot module. I don't know if it's technically feasible, but I actually think a module like this should take out a high slot AND a mid slot.
