Need help with 2 PI UI issues

First, I can't figure out for the life of me why, when you have an ECU selcted, clicking the 'Survey For Deposits' button closes the ECU interface.

The sad truth is, something is apperently broken in my brain that makes me click this button about half the time instead of the 'Products' button when I am trying to route materials from my ECU. This would not be an issue if the ECU interface would just stay open. I could correct my mistake by simply clicking the correct button. Instead, the interface vanishes, and I have to drag my way back to the darn ECU pin, reselect it, drag my way back to my storage sites, and try again.

If there is some even remotely legitimate reason the survey pane closes the ECU pane, I'd love to know what it is so I can just accept it and struggle with my mental disability in silence. As far as I can tell, however, the current functionality seems to exist only to **** me (and anyone unfortunate enough to also suffer from my condition) off.

Fortunately,(?) the second irritation has less to do with my own idiocy and more to do with an apperantly shoddy UI, unless I've missed something crucial, which would frankly be a relief at this point.

When I actually manage to open the 'Products' tab on the ECU interface, select unrouted product, click the 'create route' button, and finally attempt to choose the storage facility I want to route to, about 65% of the time, the UI decides I want to interact with the storage facility, so it closes the ECU pane and opens one for that container. This means that I have to drag myself back to the ECU, reselect it, drag myself back to the storage sites, and try again with the same odds of success. Coupled with the problem above, this has finally become so infuriating that I was willing to rage about it on the forums.

Together, these two issues make it take about 5 times longer to route product than it should, and seriously accelerate my PI enthusiasm burn-out.

So, have I missed something? Am I the only one with these issues and need to HTFU and hit the right button, or are there other extraction-oriented PI moguls out there sharing in my pain and frustration? If so, is this the appropriate way to bring it to CCP's attention? Seems like a simple fix, something they could toss in on the side of any small patch...

I can confirm that in 2 years the 1st issue you describe never happens to me. The ECU window always stays open if I scan for different resources. Until I select another building.

The second issue happens to me about 3% of the time. I'm not sure, might also happen that I click a link instead of the building.

You may be misinterperiting me. The ECU interface closes 100% of the time I open the Survey For Deposits pane. I find it extremely unlikely that you, or anyone else, does not experience this. It appears for all the world to be designed this way. I'm not talking about scanning for stuff, or switching what I'm scanning for. I'm certainly not saying the 'Survey For Deposits' window closes. I'm simply talking about the fact that opening the 'Survey For Deposits' window closes the original ECU window that you used to access it in the first place. I can then reselect the ECU pin and have both windows open at once, but choosing the 'Survey For Deposits' option in the primary window ALWAYS results in its closure.

As for the second issue, I imagine you'd know the difference between misclicking a link (extremely difficult when using adjascent facilities, as I do), and selecting a storage facility. If this only happens to you 3 attempts out of 100, consider yourself EXTREMELY fortunate. It's well beyond inconvenient when this occurs more often than not. It has gotten so bad for me that I've begun expirimenting with various workarounds to try and increase the likelihood that it will interperite my click as an attempt to route material, rather than a desire to select the storage facility.

These attempted workarounds mostly include modifying/deleting the 'to be routed' value before attempting the click to select the destination, and have been inconsistent - though it feels like they help a little.

I understand your problem now with the ECU panel. It is as you describe it. My gamestyle is so that it never creates any problems for me. Recreating a ECU connection every 2-6 months. From what I read it seems you do this on a daily basis. I have no advice to give you, but I must ask how often do you destroy a ECU and rebuild it?

For the second problem. I must admit I did heavy industry worlds before the new UI changes and can't confirm if the problem has risen or is the same form now as it was then. As I can remember I had to connect 20x buildings and route 40x materials to the corresponding processors.

Just "Double-Click" the ECU itself and you will always get to where you want to be.

Once a month, give or take a few weeks depending on if it is one of my more robust planets, or one of the stragglers. I actually leave about a thousand grid open to stretch the ECU to new locations.

It's not terribly often, but when it DOES come time to do the maintenance. this makes it downright arduous. We wouldn't excuse having to spend ten solid minutes grappling with an unweildy UI if it was to do something like remapping, and that rarely happens more often than once a year. Why would it be okay here?

It makes me want to quit PI every time I have to do it, which is not solid gameplay.
