Nah, we'll end up at just over 60k…

…which is annoying enough because that means I'll have to rescale the axes on my PCU graphs. Evil

And yet people still say CCP is doing a horrible job with its expansions and that the game is dying.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

I'm pretty sure the record was set on an AT final day, and the devs themselves were encouraging everyone to log in to crack the old record.

That right there is the 5-10k bump you'd need at current activity levels.

Counting dust bunnies seems to have become a popular sport, considering the major routes and trade hubs seem to be no busier than usual....Oops

I logged in my Jita alt to help. Maybe I'll log in on my other account and actually do something.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

Supporting uninformed opinions with anecdotal evidence seems to have become a popular sport among idiots...wait, no, it's always been that way.

prior to retribution you could get into jita whenever you wanted to. now its come down to timing on who's leaving to press the jump button and cut the line of 20-50 others at each gate...

Dusties aren't counted on the EVE ticker. Pretty sure the amount of characters on Dust active at one time would toss a solid few more thousand easily into that today. Hell you go through one of the dustie systems and see from 70-100 per system at one time if not more and i forgot how many dust staging systems there are in game

http://dustboard.com/global <--- Tracking the amount of dust mercs offline. Of course being FTP accounts can stay active forever without having subscription issues... but seriously 1,629,870 mercs (active/inactive) worldwide already? with an average of 800ish accounts starting out new per hour? PS3 dungood for getting CCP's name out there Lol

What is the point?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

And then what? We all quit and leave, because we won EVE?

It's still a record of a sort - that old PCU record was logged during the final of the Alliance Tournament, IIRC. Today is just... a Sunday. No particular special event has occurred today, other than it being a few months after a spaceships focused, PvP-promoting expansion.
