You could literally apply all of what you said to any game ever made, especially as most of it is really just opinion.

as is everything in this world.

Getting alts and pets to like you really doesn't prove anything...except your attention hungry.....Lol

The reason I have so many likes is because people ran scripts around Christmas which literally went through every post on these forums and liked them. Even the deleted posts and posts in locked threads.

The really funny thing is that the kid that necro'd it was complaining about the grammar or some ******* thing. He has said nothing since digging this up.

I think the Holy Grail of balance is bad for EVE. I think in chaotic systems a natural order will establish itself.

Everyone will train up for the best ship that everyone is flying and then you get...

I'm kinda upset that I posted a testimonial in the midddle of a necroed topic.

Does the OP still play?

If not, arguing over his right to his opinion is pointless.

just eyeballing it I'd say somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of 0.0 systems are empty right now as I write this on a Sunday afternoon/evening. I feel like most things have fallen into a steady state. I agree there needs to be more chaos in the system. the worst thing is right now I feel like my actions have no meaning, as a result I don't do much of anything.

I know this is an old thread, but I just want to throw this into the mix anyways: Mining vs PI.

The premises are rather similar. Train skills to a point, AFK while gathering resources, haul those resources to somewhere for sale, rinse lather repeat. Thing is...I'm actually having more fun with PI than I am with Mining. A LOT more fun.

With Mining, you find the system you want (0.5s tend to be nice) pick an ore, then train your Retriever on the ore and go AFK for half an hour. Once the hold fills, haul that back, hit refine, warp back to the belt, and repeat until you want to stop. If you're in a dangerous area, then you can't go AFK and have to sit there staring at the screen for hours on end while mashing your DScan. I shouldn't have to tell you guys this though because basically everyone has at least tried it for a while and most of us hate it.

PI on the other hand? Check the market for what you want to sell, find a planet type that has the resources you want, scan it so that you can produce the product without exploding your Command Center's powergrid, set up the nodes and hit go. Then come back a day later only to find that all the resource hotspots flew away and you're forced to either gut the whole setup and rebuild or stretch some lines at the cost of a few gathering nodes. Oh, and if your scanning skill isn't high enough you need to use the hotspots to guess first, and then pan a gathering node over the area until you find the best spots, then carefully place nodes around it.

They're both passive, carebear activities. Heck, with PI you can go AFK for days on end, and what I've listed above can really just be accomplished within 15 minutes, tops. But that 15 minutes is still far more involved than anything Mining can claim to have. The non-player data is changing and I need to react to it. Asteroid belts? Psssh, those things always have X of Y, A of B and E of L, resetting at this time during this interval. And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that scanning for Gravimetric sites (marginally more interesting) isn't going to net you better yields.

TL: DR?

Having the game data change under you is a good thing. Sure I'm using a carebear example, but I'm pretty sure you can apply this to what I've heard about Null (which I have admittedly never visited). Heck, the game changing under you is half the premise of WORMHOLES, where your ability to gather cash can dry up, and even your ability to just move around can suddenly result in you getting stuck and needing to selfdestruct your pod or else sit in a deadzone for days on end.

Well not a very good troll if that was their intention.

This touched a nerve for me. What I have got from this was necessarily what he was talking about.

Imagine traveling through space, uncharted space. This would be kind of like 0.0. All those systems should have characteristics that are different than the rest, personality lets say. In that sense this person is right, eve solar systems lack personality in that what is in one system you will certainly find in another not to far away.

Eve does not lack depth it only lacks variation to this depth. Early it dead heads the space adventure and the focus on human interaction becomes the only thing left in the game. Human interaction in PVP, market, industry become the only thing left to do.

All I am saying is the game could use some more mystery and adventure. Not enough ups and downs are presented to the player. Life kicks you in the balls regardless on who is around, they need more of this. Like wise life also presents some epic adventures that can not be forgotten. In eve right now there is no random stuff to talk about.

Just my two bits.

A person who used the word, 'sucky' in their thread title is not old enough to play Eve.

I believe one has to be at least 13 years old to have an Eve account.

This is not a signature.
