So i just had my first death on eve and it feels bad. How do you more excperienced players feel when you die?

First time I got podded was already in a T2 ship with lots of implants and in a wormhole op. I spawned at corp office, grabbed new implants and a new ship, updated my clone and was on my way back to the wh. Sadly everything was over when I finally got back on site.

It's just pixels, you know.

What remains are your actions. What you do is all that matters. I still remember those special moments in WoW as if it happened just a day or two ago. Some of these are almost seven years old by now.

In this universe, suicide isn't a political statement or an expression of grief. It is a means of easy transportation. #FirstWorldPrivilege

When battlecruisers first came out, I bought a Harbinger and decided to do missions in it. I had a short run into low sec and ran into a gate camp. That was my first death.

I don't remember when it was, but it was quite a while ago (2004? 2005?). When did battlecruisers get added?

I don't think you remember things correctly...

Edit: Battlecruisers came along with Exodus in 2004, but the harbinger, and the other tier 2 BCs weren't added until Revelations in 2006.

Also, death is like a cake.

The cake is a lie.

Death is like an ocean voyage.

The harbinger is a t1 battlecruiser, so it was probably 2004.

Harbinger is a Tier 2, Tech 1 Battlecruiser. It was added to EVE in Revelations on November 28, 2006.

Tier and tech...got it. I read that a tad too quickly. Thanks!

At least I didn't die to a player for three years. Of course, very little was organized in 2003 as far as pvp. I remember hearing about the first gate camp not long after the game launched that summer. People were pretty evenly split on "oh, that's kinda cool...we should do that" and "those guys are taking advantage of the gates! GM's get them!" I died at a gate camp because I didn't do research on the route. It was laziness that killed me.

I have lost so many expensive ships that death has no meaning anymore.

Our ships were dead the moment we decided to sign up for this game.

Death is like the summit of K2.

Thats pretty tough to achieve, and once you've done it you never need to do it again to feel good about yourself.

No, I think death is more akin to making love to the second most beautiful woman you ever met...

The first time I died was a result of being a new player and AFK'ing in an Osprey that I'd bought for mining (not a miner any more) in lowsec. I was confused and angry, but most of all - alive. Nothing can show you what it's like to be a living being the way that death does. It's what makes any engagement with another player exciting. Adrenaline surges, knowing that if you fail, if you have made a mistake, you will surely die, and the same is true for your opponent. Death is the only eventuality, and is certain to be repeated.

At this point, death causes me mild to moderate discomfort.
