Never really fond a use for them but does anyone know what Auto-locking Missiles (formally call FoF) are for? Never seen a way to implement them or is it something to just add to the scrap pile of broke ****.

If you find yourself in a fair fight in EvE your tactics suck!!!

Or if you are too cool to even bother with targetting.

If they stop targeting random structures that don't aggro you, that is ...

I've long tried to make those work against ECMing Guristas, but with the reload time and the random aggro, not worth it, counter ECM modules work ten thousand times better.

Unless CCP changed something in their target-aquisition routines, those are utter tosh.

I also use them in Cosmic Anomalies, warp in, get agro, turn launchers on, go have a snack. Works great in hideouts and refuges, but not in the more advanced anomalies like Forlom Hideaway, etc.

Are YOU in a Drake or a Caracal
Are YOU always being pointed by double-damp hookbills or Mauluses?
Are YOU unable to target them?
Do YOU hate FALCONS!?!

Then Auto-targeting missiles are for you!

For the princely sum of 9 ISK per unit for Lights, 25 ISK per unit for Heavies, YOU, spacenerd, can surprise the buttsechs out of a Falcon or dampy kitey mother-loving kitey frigate, by actually hitting him without locking him!

That's right, auto-targeting missiles allow you to retaliate even in situations where you are unable to gain a lock!

Available NOW at all reputable market hubs in New Eden!

Too bad they ram themselves in to the nearest object in space.

Most often used by the AFK plexing Tengu crowd.
Warp in, orbit something, rest something heavy on F1, go do stuff.
Yes it's bad and you should feel bad.

The only time I ever used them was in a drake against a falcon & cane. They spent the entire fight trying to pop a light drone Sad

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

As far as I'm aware that paperweight on F1 no longer works. Have not tried with FoF, but I tried the other day when I had a longer distance to autopilot, so MWD under F1 and something on the key. Did not work anymore, unfortunately. I would assume its the same for launchers now.

But yeah, other than paperwight some people use them for PvE. does not make much sense if you have only couple of accounts as then you would be still better off with using guns, but somewhere at 3+ accounts they start to make sense. If you throw, say, 5 Tengus at something with FoF then the fact that some very high HP structures happen to be closer than what you want to shoot is no longer such a huge issue, if the tengurs are wearing it down at combined ~2500 dps. Eats ammo like a pig through as you will be wasting helluva lot of ammo in the form of overkill volleys. They do shoot the nearest things afterall. All of them.

It's still not really AFK acticity. Launchers get empty in few minutes. For AFK activity you use drone boat with sentries and put a armor repper on each of them. Dominix, for example.

It just sucks that there are no FoF rockets and torpedoes. I don't really care for PvE and correct me if I am wrong but those missiles don't go after gates?
Rockets: PvP killmail whoring or drone killing
Torpedoes: extra oomph for bombers (drop bomb + volley and gtfo), although those torps would need to explode even without you being on grid

"Do you want to hinder that missile boat while maintaining a heavy shield tank? If so defender missiles are for you! Found everywhere in new eden for w low price they can be yours today!"

-disclaimer: they're only viable on shield tanked missile boats and to slightly lower that raven's volley because you were drunk enough to put heavy missile launchers on your megathron

Defenders work best against cruise missiles, heavies, and the like. They cycle rarely, and only will shoot down a missile if it is in flight long enough for the defenders to cycle. Best packed into LML's or roflket launchers.

I did hear of a Falcon pilot doing Incursions with defenders to fend off the Sansha torps.

But usually if it is a roflket boat, torp boat or someone with HAMs their missiles will hit you before the Defender cycles.

Generally considered **** on a bull useless.

Those are BS, not only they do whatever they want but dmg output is lol
C'mon fkin missiles trying to kill drones when the real threat is the ship using them?

How hard it is to make those hit for 150% dmg only when jam/damp and auto hit the jamming/damping ship on you?

Hardcode anyone?

I can't I'm too lazy
