Question about the Warp Speed (WS-6xx) implants

Hello.

I'm interested in purchasing the Eifyr and Co. 'Rogue' Warp Drive Speed WS-610 - 10% boost to Warp Speed.

I've heard somewhere though, that Warp Speed is actually rounded up/down to the nearest tenth/hundredth decimal point, thus negating the benefit of using these kind of implants, especially when going for Freighter runs.

Is that true?

Bump, anyone?

The rounding issue could be only a display issue.

If it is a real problem will the WS610 get your freighter to .8 AU/s, which when compared to the false .7 AU/s would make it a 14% gain. So you should not need to worry about it.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

As warp speed makes an infinitesimally small difference to the amount of time it takes to cross the majority of systems I'd strongly recommend getting a more useful implant.

Current mechanics mean that for most systems (under say a warp of 80AU) that you'll spend most of your time accelerating and decelerating. The warp speed of the ship does not affect these phases of your warp. In fact, nothing in eve affects this phase. So your warp speed is essentially meaningless unless the difference is massive eg a freighter vs an interceptor, but a small difference of say 100% increase to warp speed makes no real difference to you in game terms.

This has been raised in threads previously with some excellent ideas to improve this aspect of the game but it's very low priority, if it's even on anyone's plan at all. Certainly don't remember any dev commenting on it.

OP is referring to freighters. These only do .75 AU/s. One uses warp speed implants together with agility implants. A 10% bonus to warp speed here makes a noticeable time difference especially when you fly them manually.

If you don't have a friend with stasis with you, I suggest you take an agility implant instead

Agility implants go into slot 7, not 6.

I see.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

Both Whitehound, Nikuno and Altrue make valid points.

I think Altrue means the Low-grade Nomad set here and not just the Evasive Maneuvering implant.

I did not think this would be of interest to you since you only mentioned the WS610 and there is the WS615 and WS618, too.

They (both Low-grade Nomad and the Evasive Maneuvering) indeed aren't.

The WS-615/618s are way above what I'm willing to shell out for the rather miniscule Warp Speed improvement they offer over the WS-610.
