Reckon this could work as a decent isk source for the very best of the best? Is it already happening?

I think it could but it might rely on super rich players holding tounaments (like Gene Hackman in The Quick and the Dead). I've seen a few guys on the fourms asking what they can do with all their money, well this would be my suggestion. You could then sit back and watch as the best pvp pilots in eve show up with their pimp ships and attempt to destroy each other for your amusement.

I have this image in my mind of the inhabitants of jita 4-4 pulling down the shutters as the two faction battleships square off outside. Maybe a tumbleweed blowing past...

Blasters at dawn?

I think this could be a really cool idea but it couldn't use the high sec dueling mechanic if it was going to be serious since there would be no way to stop asshats interfering with the fights.

If I had the isk to organise something like that I'd lock down a WH and pay lackies to guard and enforce the tournament rules.I'd live like a king in my own personal domain and charge extortionate amounts to allow the Eve elite to sit with me and watch the carnage while I eat sweet meats off the bellies of exotic dancers (female ones).

I might allow the events to be web cast for the purposes of gambling (as long as I got to take a hefty cut of course).

Shame I'm broke really.

We should do the EVE version of bum fights and get all the poor people in EVE to fight and belittle themselves for our amusement, I mean ISK.

you sir are an idiot, bum fights is just something horrible to provoke, in eve though its a different story as its a game, get a clue though and learn to separate games in real life as people do get hurt out there and not in here

I agree, there's nothing funny about two grown men fighting each other using their bottoms.

But... but... aren't the "very best of the best" out in null, making billions, getting gudfites, and laughing at all the fail high-sec'ers?!? What's the point of a duel in a place where you can just blow the crap out of other people with no consequences?!??!?

It is called The Alliance Tournament.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

I knew someone was going to say that.

The Alliance Tournament is too official and too antiseptic. I'm talking about a Gene Hackman style high roller putting up their own money and then laughing manically as the guts fly. I'm talking about a tournament where anyone can enter who fancies their chances whether they're part of an alliance or not.

You mean like it is already the case in all of low- and null-sec where everybody and every day dares their chances?

Or...get this, something inbetween a Dev sanctioned official tournament with Death Ray equipped enforcers and a lowsec free for all?
