She didn't advise ECM burst, but targeted ECM. That's a big difference, unless you are stupid and try to ECM a player in hi-sec. But Retribution even added a filter for stupid in the form of a safety button.

I do not know who "she" is. Players have suggested a few times to use ECM Burst to keep aggro. I can only advise against it for said reason.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

This is still the first time I've ever heard anyone saying at Domi + Sentries wasn't the perfect AFK kit. Oh wait... you were using heavies? Oh sorry, my apologies. CCP forgot to remove heavy drones from the game last patch. They're not really an item anymore, though. They're just kind of like souvenirs now, mementos of a happier time when drones were still a viable weapon choice.



The plated ishtar with webs would like to have a word with you. And the proteus, for that matter.

For the op: I was much like you about 2 weeks ago. The ECM is a good suggestion, however I have a better one; A target painter. It keeps rat aggro on you AND helps your sentries/rails hit. Make sure you know aggro triggers though, otherwise your drones can end up pulling a bunch of hate.

As for kronos, of the 4 I was under the impression it was the worst. I would love to be proven wrong about this though. People are also suggesting shield navi domi, sounds pretty good to me. I'm skeptical about a gila though, I don't feel it would have as good of a clear time as a domi would.

I haven't personally tried the MJD sentry domi, but it sounds like it's worth a shot.

Rail sentry domi/navy domi, don't worry about an MJD or anything. Thrown on a single RR to make love to your drones when you're not on the ball on recalling them and they grab a bit of aggro, call it a day, blitz kinetic/thermal weak missions faster than a mach.

Indeed Gila is an awesome ship too but for about the same price full fitted you really get a huge Navy Domi DPS monster.
Both are good, very good for pve or pvp but require awesome Drone/Hybrid skills.

Somebody once advised me not to smartbomb Anomalies in hisec anymore Lol

EDIT: Never lost a ship smartbombing anything in hisec. Just make sure you are far enough away from the warp-in point, are aware of your range, watch your overview... you know... behaviour normally reserved for situations out of hisec. I'd say this goes for ECM bursts too.

Since coming back i've worked my way up the drone boat line from a tristan to a myrmidon and I have lost exactly 1 drone across 4 sizes of drone boats and 3 levels of missions. I only lost that one because I hadn't figured out how to keep them from getting agro yet. Domi is fine, drones are fine and the AI is fine. The problem is you still trying to semi-AFK your missions and/or being incapable of learning from events that happen to you. I don't even use ECM. The only e-war type thing on my ship is a webber.

there is one secret. It is: sentry drones + micro jump drive = easy mode. You even don't need such strong tank which was used with regular drones: when you start to get too much DPS you just MJD away and snipe them with Wardens/bouncers/etc... works 100%

Just try it and you will see.

Just to add my anecdote to the replies here (in response to your comment about training missiles): I did exactly that; I trained into a cruise Raven after the AI change since I found operating the drone Domi to be an exercise in tedium.

To be quite honest, my only regret is not doing it sooner. I complete missions faster and with far less hassle. I do keep drones on the Raven; I packed the drone bay with Hob 1s, but these days I use them more as chaff than as actual weapons. When I see some approaching frigates I toss out a "frig snack" until I can get them all locked up and tear them down with a couple of autocannons I keep in the non-launcher high slots.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the Domi, quite a bit actually. I trained extensively into Drones. But it was already a slow-boat, both in literal and figurative terms, and the AI change just exacerbated that. I've had such success with the Raven that I'm pushing ahead with training T2 cruise missiles. I may even spring for the Navy Raven.
