Downtime used to take an hour normally. It's 5-30 minutes nowadays on non-patch days. Back in my day players used to time their days around downtime.

Ahh the good ole days. Half of the year because of daylight savings time i wasnt able to log in before work so had to redo my skill and indy plans so stuff would finish at the end of the day. Patches would require skills of several days jsut to make sure that your skills didnt end during the patch downtime...

In other words, this short couple of minute downtime going on now is nothing more then a chance to grab a drink or something.

CCP...5-15 minutes is too long to wait and it forces me to experience real life. I find this to be unnacceptable. Please shorten downtime to 30 seconds, so that I may then complain about 30 seconds being too long for downtime. If I am unable to play EvE for a complete 24/7, I will unsub ALL my accounts and never play your game again.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I know right? I hate having to get up and experience real life for more than 30 seconds. If I have to be away from my computer longer than the time it takes me to get a drink from the fridge or answer the pizza delivery guy, I start to lose my mind.

Just to give a little context...,

6.30pm Get in from work
6.31 - 7.30pm Dinner chores etc..
7.30 Time with the special lady...
9.00 Eve! Yay!
10pm Downtime.. crap...
10.15 Eve Yay!
11.30 Sleeeeeeeeep...

Every damn night

Its not the duration of the downtime, 1 hour or 30 seconds it doesn't make much difference. Its the fact I have to stop what I'm doing, usually Radar sites or Salvage, then dock up. When I come back out again it all starts from scratch. It all impacts all the best bits of Eve, the group stuff. There are no group activities taking place over downtime, no big battles, no gang PVP...

I know it doesn't impact most of you but spare a thought for us poor Australians who never, ever get a night of unbroken play...

Is this the place where bittervets go to tell stories about the those times when DT lasted around a full hour and servers being already up after 50 minutes was hailed as "great job CCP!"?

I may not go down at 11:30 GMT but I will go down on your sister.

Downtime happens during my downtime, i.e. sleeping in a warm bed.

From my perspective, I don't see a problem.

EDIT:

Back in my day, we had downtime for an hour up hill each way, in the snow, and we liked it.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

And *my* downtime happens as I'm shovelling my children off to school. So obviously no one has any problems. Or reason for complaint.

When the ISDs flush this thread...will it spin the wrong direction?

You must be east coast Aussie, because here on the west coast its not even a problem.

Just deal with it. Unless its a patch day the downtime is only 15 mins or so now. I remember when it went for a hell of a lot longer that that. Plus then how would everything get reset without it?

I live in Australia too. Down time serves as a perfect reminder that its time to go to bed and interfere with myself sexually before going to sleep.
I've done some really stupid shit in this game.
