Hey all,

If you go onto YouTube, and look up defiance universe, you'll find a game that is touting itself as a open world PVP/shooter MMO.

There is also a tv show with the same name coming out too.

Take a look at the dev diary for the PVP side of it, I'm getting the impression that's its going to be like EVE, except that its going to be based on earth.

I'd put up a link to the channel itself, but I'm using the iPad to write this.

Also, that Continuum show thats on aint half bad.

I've been following this project since Conception. This is the single most ambitious MMO class project i've EVER seen. EVE online in scope DOES beat it. But right out of the gate this game will be interacting on several levels with the TV show and the TV show will directly affect the game in pretty crucial ways. This has been Syfy's baby. And they've been very careful on this project. I'm a CBT but i cant say more than that.

This game is going to redefine the MMO genre i believe. I know that's a hell of a statement to make, but the systems the design. The interactivity levels. The aspects that have made Trion an MMO force to be reckoned with are all being rolled into one incredible ball. The Show also has a huge staff with names everyone reading these forums will be familiar with at one level or another. This game WILL do things that haven't been done before.

I will not sacrifice EVE for defiance. (wont have to) Defiance is going to be a 1 time buy with cash shop. Its definitely worth a look and possibly worth a pre-order. Trion has not disappointed me with rift, and they're taking the time to make sure End of Nations measures up to what's become a rather high standard level. Good luck ;)

And even with all that i still play this game ;)

I'm really interested in how the actual game plays.

Will it have micro transactions like in EVE?

I don't think anything will beat EVE in scope, but the closest thing, to this game yet has to be Borderlands.

I will be getting this game, the question now is which platform?

PS3 or Xbox, are my choices as I use my Mac for eve only.

I strongly recommend the PC/Mac If the option becomes available. Trion is a primarily PC game builder and is building FOR the PC while dumbing it down for other versions. (Computer first consoles second)

The scope and vision of this game is pretty big. I'm not sure the game betas have even taken us out of the tutorial phase to be honest. It's learned its lessons well from Rift.

I don't mind a dumbed down version, as long as the overall gameplay isn't affected.

Do you know if there is a Mac option for the game?

All I seem to find these days is that it's all Windows required.

Maybe Borderlands isn't a good comparison as it has open world areas, that you load up when you go into.

I think that Defiance won't have such a design and it'll be like EVE with one huge area, connected to another huge area, that you can't walk/sprint across in a few minutes.

IGN uploaded the first hour of the game, but they skipped through the cut scenes at the start, but it does look good.

I cant state one way or another on the borderlands comparisons until the NDA goes.

Checking on the Mac option... doesnt look like there is one FOR NOW. This is one of those that could change or there might be one i dont know about. I'd contact Trion directly and ask specifically for one of those. If nothing else you could install a windows emulator or what not for this. Assuming your mac can handle it.

If you can get into the betas i suggest it. They havent disappointed for me so far. And there's at least one more before the open.

Are the beta's for Defiance on the consoles as well as PC?

I'll have a look on the VBI website to see if they are and I'll register for the next advance mission beta.

If there isn't a beta for Defiance on the PS3, I can wait for the launch date, I'll just play EVE as I wait.
