Saw on Reddit that Bungie's finally talking about their new game, 'Destiny'. Looks like a mash-together of Halo's action bits, Mass Effect's "choices and consequences" model, and EVE/DUST's long-term, immersive gameplay style.

An IGN interview summarizing what Bungie's ViDoc talked about.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Apparently the first installment is set to release later this year, with releases every few years until 2019 planned, per the source. DUST better get out of Beta and into the full swing of things quickly, or else CCP's going to get rolled underfoot.

my thoughts? suuuure

Dust is EVE's farmville

*leaked* document prepared by an advertising company.. OK

anything releasing on XBOX at this point is disappointing, and judging by the lame advertising campaign we are witnessing, this game will not prove me wrong

"Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old." ...your inner murderous, gun-wielding seven year old

why set a hard timeline of 10 years [is maybe mistake]

I can't find a link to Bungie's kickstarter for this

the guy's habitual tsk is distracting. and is that a lisp?

I'm hungry. again? but I just ate...

"my inner seven year old"? In other words dull and oversimplified storyline, and weak game mechanics with no challenge or depth?

No thanks, I prefer my epic storyline to actually be epic, not some child adventure :)

I am surprised Disney never bought Bungie.

Seems like a perfect match to me.

I kill kittens, and puppies and bunnies. I maim toddlers and teens and then more.

The Imperium of Disney has greater things to combat, the Disney Vault must remain sealed, and Disney himself still lies immortal and Frozen in time.... Disney scientists are working hard to develop the technology to bring their leader back to life.

Also game looks pretty sweet, PS4 and new Xbox out soon... could be good.

Nobody can match Mass Effect EVER!

There's also a new ME game coming out, either this year or the next, not sure when.

It's supposed to be some sort of prequel or middle story to the main trilogy.

I'd be interested to see what the storyline for Destiny is.

This is a bit more cinematic description of the game, no 7 year old minds in it

Really doesn't show or tells us anything about the game and this "cinematic" looks more like something (like look how great we are!) you would show to your potential employer rather than to gamers.

I, for one, am not impressed. In fact, I am terminally disappointed.

From what I've heard the devs say about it, it sounds like they're completely full of ****. They talk like Peter Molyneux. Skimmed 2 articles about it and decided it wasn't worth my time to learn more. I'm not disappointed though. It's Bungie so I didn't expect much in the first place.

Edit: For one thing meeting another player is supposed to be some kind of incredible, amazing experience that will blow me away with how awesome it is. I hear they're even showing a 'two girls one cup reaction' style video of someone's face during this completely mundane experience and apparently the guy is super psyched about it, probably because he's been in prison since the 1960's and has never seen a video game. Meeting another player? Seriously? That thing that I do constantly in every game that I've played for the last few decades? And keep in mind they don't show it actually happening, just the guy's reaction to it. How amazing can it be if they're hiding it?
