Electronic Kill Markers - New Idea- please look at me DEV's :)

Wouldn't it be cool if your ship got kill marks on it like the planes in WW2 did? I'm thinking electronic tags that get attached to your ship that other players can see. Every time you get a kill one marker gets added to your ship and If your ship blows up you lose them all.
It Would be a great addition to the game for people that already try to personalize their ships with names and just yet another depth to add to PVP.

Lots of pride and prestige to have... lots more potential tears to harvest.

Bear in mind that this kind of information is lost when a ship is repackaged (because the server simply registers repackaged items as a "generic" to reduce overhead).

How did you Veterans start?

I really like this idea. A new tab for assembled ships that includes links to the wars and kills it was involved with. Of course, this information should be available to everyone, so it may add a new reason to target a certain pilot.

When I 'look at' another persons ship up close, I should see the number of player kills they have gotten in that hull. Start with single ship increment markers until it starts getting cluttered, then switch them to 5, 10, 20 kill markers instead... :)

We measure combat risk today by doing a quick check on a pilots employment history to estimate expertise & skill, but a quick 'look at' their ship would be way better.

A realy good idea. but it would require too much work. imagine problems with T3 ships. I think this theme should be developed only when we geet custom paintjobs. i hope that sistem will sopport something like this.

I think they could keep it simple to start with and if a ship is repackaged it loses all the kills?

it would be cool, but at stated, it would be somewhat taxing to run.
possibly if it was added to the character information. so it would add up per hull that they used rather than individual ships. so I get a few kills in a myrm, then it blows up or I repackage it. I buy a new myrm and it would have the marks from the old one, but with a losses section too (we are the immortal capsuleers after all).

It wouldn't be that hard to run. They could probably use a variation of the decal system they've got. All those clever corporation logos on your Viziam/Thukker Mix/Ishukone/Duvolle Labs ships?

That's the Decal System.

I vaguely remember hearing CCP suggesting that perhaps at one point they'll allow alliances to put their own logos in that spot on the ships. Something about technical limitations right now, or not having the functionality quite worked out. I might be remembering incorrectly.

Anyway, it's not impossible. It's not uninteresting. It doesn't break gameplay mechanics and it adds a little bit more unique flavor to PvP. Even though I'm not really a PvPer myself, I see these as a good things and so I give it a +1.

Whooowhooo! Nice posts guys. Yeah it would just add another layer to an already great game. I wonder how many ships out there now have a mental/personal note attached to them. I.e "my rifter has 6 kills and It's still going.... Pop ah cancel that"... New rifter please! And on the other foot it could be "wow hes got 6 kills on that rifter, we can't be having that!"... Pop

This would make your losses all the more painful of course ;)

Also removing it when repackged is fine, I'd say even if the ship changed hands. This would further increase your attachment to your ship. It would increase the value of the ship to it's pilot. Might even have trophies at some point.
