I'm on one of the beginner missions and I simply can't kill Dagan. He keeps regenerating his ship and I can't destroy it. I've searched the forums and can't seem to find the answer. Can anyone help a noob? Thanks.

Dagan is meant to be your introduction to teaming up with others, the mission description itself suggests just that, he can be a tough nut to crack solo, especially as a newbie.

Your best bet is to shout out in local, you'll generally get both newbies and older players offering to help you out, if you get a fellow newbie especially one with the same problem, team up with him, kill your Dagan and then kill their Dagan. Older players will help you out, many remember their first attempts at killing him and will help you because of it, don't forget to thank the newbie or older player who helps you.

Good luck, and have fun. You can run the same arc again 3 months down the line, it's good for your standings.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

What he said. There is always someone around that can put a few rounds in to him for you. Say hi! Eve isn't all assholes.

Thanks to Tau for helping!! This was my first time to team up with someone. Looks like it's time to join a corp.

Glad to help Big smile

Do find a corp, and don't feel that you have to stay in a bad one.

Older forum posts on this question state that Dagan posesses slightly different defenses, depending on which faction you choose for the mission.

It is probably best to team up with another player, and other players will be happy to have your help, too, but I did manage to defeat Dagan by using a destroyer. A cruiser would probably be better, if you have the skills trained. (Some players claim they have finished the mission in a frigate, too.)

In a destroyer, I stayed out of range of Dagan's neutralizer and killed off his escort ships. I then returned to fight Dagan's cruiser alone. (Repair your ship to 100% first.)

I charged toward Dagan, entered a fast, tight orbit around his cruiser, and Dagan was no longer hitting me with his neutralizer, and his cruiser's guns could only hit my destroyer once in a while. I could easily repair the occasional damage. (Depending on your own skills, you might be able to attack from long range, especially if you fly a cruiser.)

The hard part was figuring out which type of ammunition would damage Dagan faster than he could repair it. Dagan will be vulnerable to a specific type of damage (electromagnetic, thermal, kinetic, or explosive). But the exact type of damage to use against him depends on which empire faction you chose in a previous mission. (I spent a lot of time and ISK trying out different types of ammo.)

Eventually, I killed Dagan solo in my destroyer (Thrasher) with seven autocannons and one light missile launcher, using ammunition that caused explosive damage . Again, your version of Dagan may or may not be vulnerable to the same type of damage.

Back in the day there were people who just sat around killing Dagan over & over again all day long. They hung out in that system and waited for newbies to ask for help.

I think that's no longer the case, and he just has moderate resists across the board with a slight weakness for explosive damage.

Because Dagan is evil and needs to die over and over again.

Also it is a good way to get chatting with new players and then you try to recruit them to your corp.

The first time I fought Dagan it took a long time of warping to heal and back again to slowly wear him down with a Catalyst. The second time with my first alt I used faction ammo and a few other higher end goodies and he went down a bit faster. The third time I took him out I went with a Navy Dom and elite drone training and he died very fast.

It is possible to solo Dagan as a total rookie, although it took me a number of attacks between quick docks for shield repairs. I'm not sure how long one needs to train up before he is an easy kill, but three months is more than enough and your second time against him should be a breeze.

I did that.

Why, cause it's so awesome to see the ****** die over and over after you had trouble with him the first time you did that arc.

And of course it's a great way to interact with new players, answer their questions, give them tips and tricks and sent them on their way to become EVE's greatest pilots.

This ^

If you're doing the SoE epic arc early on, you won't have the DPS to solo Dagan. I read somewhere that you need around 100-110 DPS to break Dagan's tank, which is very difficult for a 2 week old player in a frigate or destroyer. There should be someone around willing to help you out, either a fellow newbie or a veteran passing through.

I will say that the mission instructions led me to believe that whichever faction I chose to help would actually be sending along a "fleet" to help me take him out. Obviously that didn't happen so I wonder what the point was to choose a faction to deliver him to.

I case you don't know, the faction you choose will get a good faction standing gain.

Think of them more as an audience than help, you're there to prove yourself as a bloodthirsty gun toting demi-god to them, and in return you get a substantial standings gain with them for successfully doing so.

Faction NPCs are normal(ish) human beings, with all of humanities frailties, when they die they stay dead, you as a capsuleer are an immortal, you never die, you just wake up in a new body.

I've killed Dagan many many times, but I've never done the Blood-Stained Stars arc.

Heading to Arnon now in blaster Harpy. I could use some Minmatar faction.

I helped another player kill Dagan a few minutes ago. This time I was in an Amarr destroyer with eight dual light beam lasers and Multifrequency S crystals. The other player was in an Amarr cruiser.

I don't see how I could have killed him alone this time, since Amarr laser ships depend so heavily on cap. So, whether he can be killed solo or not depends greatly on your own ship, weapons, ammo, and support skills.

the solution

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
