Cool, now when are you going to replace my graphics card your game killed?

a game cannot kill a graphics card. the only software that can kill a graphics card is it's own drivers. in this case the drivers failed to properly manage the TDP of the video card.

blame your video card manufacturer - that's who deserves the blame.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

BTW one thing Ive not seem mentioned in either blog is how this works, if at all, on a Mac.

I did have one "unhandled exception" recently, and after clicking "no" to offer to debug it, the screen just went black and stayed that way. Eventually I force quit. Was the crash reporter sending data to CCP and by using force quit, I stopped it? Just what does happen when a crash is reported, and what do I do as a Mac user to insure it happens?

This wouldn't be EVE if I didn't say it:

Are only crashes that produce error messages counted? I often see the EVE client crash with no message at all.

Very nice graph, quick results too.

I wonder, was the number of crashes coming in (1000 on the first day, 1500 for the second) a surprise? Or was it an expected figure?

Also +1 the proposal to make an update of this kind regular, maybe monthly is too much to ask but surely you could give us a quick update like this quarterly, so long as the more nervous management types can be persuaded to allow you to to show the spikes in crashs every 'expansion'. At the very least it'd be a semi-formalised time to put across any trends you continue to see, ie if users of certain outdated drivers are causing an abnormal number of crashes for themselves you could give a gentle poke to about itLol

Whilst I'm 'Management' I'm really not nervous about this as it's a great idea. Also, the guys are very keen to keep feeding this data out to people both as information and to make sure we keep working our way through the bugs.

Watch this space for details on how we will do this.

Would be a good idea to lump this report in with the market statistics that are published on the regular since the QEN has been discontinued. Also, could we please get a graph or straight statistics on the EVE Subs with each publication as well.

Matter of fact, might want to consider just lumping any and all statistic information in with the release of the market statistics. would make lot of the process easier as you already have a business process in place to get this information out there in a timely manner, just add on to it.

Great work, guys. Keep it up. You efforts might not be very flashy but they are very important nonetheless.

Just a side note, has there been any progress made on the intermittent warp tunnel issue?

I imagine the tool does record thing like driver versions for said hokey video drivers. It may also be worth posting somewhere if you see a trend of a specific driver or drivers causing a lot of crashes so that maybe those people can be convinced that an update is needed. I work in IT and I cant tell you how many guys I work with complain about various games crashing but cant tell you the last time they upgraded their video drivers.

that's funny, because at least AMD's drivers never burned up their own cards at factory clockrates.

"WINTER"

It works for me.

The low-brow folks bellowing for common English words (e.g. "Red Moon Rising" ) will like it.

It has evokes thoughts that are dark and cold; very important EVE concepts.

And it hits home that "winter is coming" has been a mantra for those hoping for EVE's cure.

I can only hope that the next expansion arrives with a renewed use of chronicles bringing the story in. I miss the chronicles. Do you not recall the story lines in the chronicles that lead up to Apocrapha - the expansion widely considered to be CCP's finest ?

I'm a little confused as to what the blue means in the graph. if all the red is number of crashes reported per day then how can you have a number of fixes higher than that per day? or is the red the number of crashes expected compared to red +blue being the total number of crashes and blue being the estimated number of crashes that have been fixed?

I read it as the total height of the bar = number crashes, the blue section shows shows the proportion where CCP *think* they've fixed the bug responsible for the crash since, the bigger red section being "dunno" or fixs still in developement/testing. Then again maybe I'm completely wrong \o/
