Yes this a whine post, but I hope some take it seriously.

So this is an MMO, and like most MMO's they are a game designed around social interaction. On one character I have made I once asked a question in the help channel and immediately 3 people put a bounty on me so I end up having WANTED on my character portrait. Now to some this seems like no big deal, for me however I hate it. So the ONLY way other than getting blown up on purpose multiple times and wasting ISK is to start over. Which is what I did.
This time I was careful to NEVER ask a question in the help channel. I was also careful to NEVER speak in a trade hub area like Amaar. Tonight though I was in the starting area zone and just said "Hello everyone" and some three year old character put a bounty on me! Can you understand how this makes me feel? I no longer dare talk in any channel, how is this good for social interaction?

I understand the need for people to be allowed to have retribution for crimes committed against them or indeed other reasons. I know that Eve is a harsh world. I do not want puppies and cosy slippers when playing this game. (Well maybe the cosy slippers, I like warm feet!) I saw the advertising CCP put out about this expansion and I was attracted enough to sign up. What I do not understand is the reasoning behind why people are putting bountys on people for no other reason than to **** someone off. I find this a childish, purile idiotic way of playing a game. Should I quit now? I do not want to quit I am having a fun time. At the moment I am doing exploration and loving it. It stimulates my mind, is a very complicated and fun activity. I also do not want to start my character again as I have invested alot into the training for my exploration. It seems no matter what I do I can expect bountys put on me.

I was less bothered by it this time, but it did make me say to myself "oh for fucks sake!" How can players be so bloody petty and pathetic? A bounty in real life is for criminals why is it different in this game (I know I am on shakey ground comparing RL to a game, it just makes you think) Why have CCP not thought this through properly?

For those that will no doubt log strait in and start whacking bountys on this character, knock yourself out. This character is a thowaway alt and will be never be played. Waste your ISK

Your post shows the reason why those people put a bounty on you. You even exceed their expectations by going beyond simple annoyance.

They won. You can biomass yourself now.

So don't get pissed off. Problem solved.

So what if they put a bounty on you? Who cares? Why does it matter?

I can only assume you now have more bounties placed on you. I will put 100million on your head as soon as I get home. If you think 100,000 was annoying...

i'm tempted to put a bounty on OP, the isk/tears ratio of even a minimum bounty would be a worth while investment.

Yay, this account hasn't had its signature banned. or its account, if you're reading this.

You really are a little whiny person, complaining about irrelevant, petty stuff. Each and every word you uttered was unbearable, and when you reach 40 you will be the kind of neighbor that writes letters to local newspapers, complaining about "kids these days".

Play the goddamn game and never post again.

If I wasn't conviced you are trolling and actually looking for it, I'd put a bounty on you.

The reason CCP allows it is because in high sec bounties are virtually irrelevant. I got 400 million on me just for posting in this forum, yet this morning I autopiloted a battleship from Gallente space to Amarr and no one bothered me. Also, in real life criminals place bounties on law enforcement officials. Football teams have even placed bounties of members of other teams.

If you do not like a 100,000 isk bounty on you, get in a 500,000 isk ship and have a corp mate blow you up. As for asking questions in help, use the throwaway alt for that.

In EvE a bounty placement is a private matter, not an action reserved for criminals.

In truth bounties are used by people on both sides of the law even in real life. The only difference is that when criminals place a price on someone's head it is called a contract or a hit.

You have had a price placed on your head by (in your opinion) a criminal or malcontent. That is something of a badge of honor in this case.

The only thing about this system that CCP may consider changing is the "Wanted" label, as that gives the wrong impression at times. It is possible that the label could change to more accurately reflect your security status (although sec status rarely means what you think it means in this game), whereby you might get a label on your portrait of "Targeted" or "Hunted" or some such if your sec status is above a certain level.

Other than that, the only problem is your interpretation of what a bounty means because you are confusing terms used in real life with terms used in game.

I post on forums all the time and I've yet to get a bounty from it cause I'm not an idiot :D

I however now fully expect to get a bounty now that I've posted this, but I never really get under anyone's skin for any reason.

Whines, silly idea threads, controversial topics, and trolling in general...etc

I do like how 80% of this thread read the first couple sentences and had no idea about the op being a throw away alt xD

Care to tell me how asking legit question in the Help channel and saying hello in local to try and socailise with my fellow newbies is getting under someones skin? Question
