What skills should I buy and train during the initial tutorials?? This doesn't have to be race specific. I am planning on later on to be a gallente drone driver. Thanks for any info!!

A good skill guide, regardless of where you end up is here.

It pretty much covers all core skills that you'll need for any career path.

The tutorials are going to give you a bunch of skills, a bunch of ships, and a bunch of modules for those ships. Train the skills you're given, and if one of those modules or ships requires a skill you don't have, then buy that skill and train it.

They're pretty good about giving you all the skills you need for the tutorial stuff, but sometimes they miss one here and there.

Once you're done with the tutorials, you're on your own, and will need to buy a whole lot of skills. Train support skills, weaponry skills, and the command skills you need for the ships you want. People plug in a lot of skills into their heads, 160-180 or so different skills. This game has a lot of skills, each doing a tiny little thing.

As soon as the tutorial finishes giving you free skills, go on a massive shopping spree for every engineering, mechanics, gunnery/missile, electronics, navigation skill you are eligible to train. Immediately train them all to 1, then work on getting them to 2. All those +5%'s add up fast to make you a much more capable pilot. Then go for Jury Rigging 3 and rigging skills. Do this while you're deciding that age old question of "What do I want to be when I grow up?" and work from there.

Good skills to focus on early on regardless of what you plan to do in Eve are fitting skills (engineering and electronics), cap skills (energy management and energy systems operation), navigation skills and tanking skills. Even miners and haulers need tanking skills to keep from being suicide ganked.

Core fitting skills
Tanking skills
Drone/Hybrid Turret skills

You'll find the actual skills listed on the certificate planner
Use them as guidelines for Basic Level

Worry about Standard+ later as some certs are of questionable value past that (eg Core Targetting)

Don't forget the Cybernetics skill. I am not sure if you still get it during the tutorial, but i consider it one of the best skills to train on day one. The +3 implants are 10mill each, so probably out of scope at first - unless you are making an alt or have friends that will hand you some money. But +2 implants are affordable and already speed up your training by quite a bit.

You still get it in the tutorial, along with two +1's.
