So you just landed on a 20 man gate camp....

So you just landed on a 20 man gate camp in .4 space. You are 12 away from the gate and only have an after burner. As soon as you uncloak they instanta lock you.....how do you survive?

I only ask because if they can uncloak you as soon as you jump the gate I can't think of anyway for you to survive other than maybe cloaking again. I don't think most ships would have time to get back to the gate.

How do you avoid these? Any tips or tricks?

The only good solution is to not be in the situation, use a scout or fly a covops cloaking ship.

For advice once your already in the situation, you need more details. Ship type? Cloaking device?

If your in a frigate with a good align time, (really fast aligning ceptor is an ok alternative to a covops cloaking ship) best bet is to wait 15-25 seconds and try to warp out. Maybe they don't have a fast locker, or they just aren't on their toes.

Have a Cloak? Align in a random direction, hit AB, cloak, and pray they fail at decloaking. Decloaking isn't that hard, but its not a sure thing. Don't keep going in the same direction after your AB finishes its cycle. (If you had a MWD you could try the cloak-MWD-warp trick, but you said you don't)

In a ship with no chance of warping out, no cloak, and no friends coming, wait till your about to decloak in the off chance that something intervenes and then re approach and pray, but your probably dead.

Only thing to do in this situation is to align to a celestial and spam the warp to button and hope you get your pod out!

Pick the nearest ship that you have a chance of taking down with you and try to at least get a kill out of it.

Look at it as a good opportunity to troll the campers in local for a full minute.

What kind of ship are you in?

If you are in a fast frigate (nano'd or one of the interceptor variants), simply warp out before your cloak timer is up. No one will catch you unless they are VERY lucky.
If you are in a slow frigate (uses plates and/or if a brawler fit), try to burn back to the gate.
If you are in a cloaky ship, hit warp button and turn on your cloak as soon as the "Warp Drive Active" text appears. No one will catch you unless they are VERY lucky.

If you are in a cruiser... you're a dead man. Try to take someone (preferably in a squishy ship) down with you.
If you are in a battlecruiser... you're a dead man. Try to take someone (preferably in a squishy ship) down with you.
If you are in a battleship... you're a dead man. Try to take someone (preferably in a squishy ship) down with you.
If you are in a captial ship... you're a VERY dead and dumb man. There's nothing you can do except call for help.

The MWD/AB Cloak trick still works very well. Aligns/Prop Mod/Cloak end of prop mod cycle uncloak and spam warp.

Type something funny in local. Maybe they'll be laughing too hard to lock you or think it was funny enough to let you live.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

eject. most pod killers switch overviews for pods, or if they use one for ships and pods your pod will spawn under your ship, that second it will take them to react and move the mouse is enough to warp off safely even with insta lock frigs right next to you.

See this is wrong.

The right way to do it, Align/Cloak/Prop Mod, in that order. You can pulse the MWD 1 cycle after you cloke.
Spending time on MWD first still buy the instant lockers 1 sec to lock you. Big smile

As fare as i know Razor are in GW atm, so the chances for cloked bubblers is high to, which will reduce you posibilities to pass alive limited unless you have a fleet behin you.

I can confirm that Ynot is correct - the order for instawarping out is align, cloak, then MWD and when the MWD cycle finishes you uncloak while spamming the warp button.

To add to this, you may find you also need to have the higher Meta cloaking device fitted in order to get enough speed. The lower meta one reduces you speed so much so that when you decloak you may find you are not travelling at 75% and you will have to accelerate a little to initiate instawarp. Try them out in safe space to make sure.

Decloak your disco phoon, wait for stuff to get too close and then push ALL THE BUTANS.

Then warp off once you've killed enough of the points that your core stabs can manage the rest.

Not a disco phoon? Well there's just no helping some people...

A trick i use for bubbled camps is to immediately set an overview tab to "all" as biomass often doesnt show and they can decloak you. I generally move around in covops so they're easier to avoid.

Best thing is to avoid in the first place If you cant scout at the very least use the map to look for recent activity and plan acordingly.

Lowsec camps are easier to avoid as they cant bubble you, but then smartbombs become popular. In those cases you want to always approach and leave gates at awkward angles so you dont come through the killzone of the smartbombers.

Essentially its a tough thing to do.

You be surprised how often a battleship with a cloak, mwd, and it's low slots filled with warp stabs survives this sort of thing. Sure a HIC, bubble, or a bumper will ruin your days, but most gate camps aren't very good or on their toes. I always keep a cloak, mwd, and a bunch of stabs in my hold or a near by station for just such a purpose.
