I just started playing last week. I am in a corp, which is friendly, and I am asking on the rookie channel but still I have a few questions.

01. Is there a way to add keybindings to "release drones" and to "drone start repeat harvesting"?

02. Is there a way to filter my belongings? Like if I'm searching for a ship, (I have stuff on 10+ different stations)

03. When I alt-tab out of the game my screen goes greyish/darkish, if I open the task manager with ctrl-alt-tab it turns back to normal, why is that?

04. Is there a way to permanently add a window/button to the neocom? Like the mineral hanger?

05. If I use the alt-enter "resize window" feature my ingame windows move around all over the place. Is there a way to fix this?

06. In the overview window can I create a tab that shows only containers?

07. I've heard that if I don't mine a 'roid completely dry, it will respawn the next day and there might spawn a few more of the very same roids spawn. Is that true for massive scordites?

08. If I want to sell roids (like massive scordite), where is a good place to sell? Jita? Trade hubs? Outer rim of High sec?

09. From the standard industrial ships, which races ship is the "best"? Is the sigil any good? Are there any differences except HP and transport capacity?

10. How could I farm Minmatar LP?

11. How does scanning work? I went to a solar system and I tried to search for gravimetric sites, but I couldn't get a 100% scan result. If I find a grav site can I save to bookmarks and share it with my corp? Do these grav sites work like normal belts? Are there a finite number of searchable grav sites? (Like a corp member found already 5 in a solar system, are there more if the scanner doesn't show any more?)

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help.

1.) If they are there, then you will find them in the escape menu.

2.) Assets window, search tab. Search for the ship you want and EVE will give you all those ships, sorted by station they are in.

3.) Sounds like a graphic cards issue to me. Alt-tabbing while in full screen is a PITA with EVE. If you alt-tab out often, try running EVE in windowed or fixed window mode (escape menu).

4.) All the buttons that are listed under the E-menu (top left above your portrait) can be dragged and dropped into the NEOCOM.

5.) Sorry no idea here.

6.) Yes you can. You can have 5 different tabs open at the same time, but you can save as many overview settings as you want. Just play around a bit with the overview settings and I highly recommend that you search for Louis' overview guide.

7.) Not true. If you mine a roid completely or partially doesn't matter at all. At server downtime (11:00 EVE time / 11:00 UTC) all asteroid belts are reset. What this means is they are completely restored (looks might differ, locations of asteroids might change a bit, but belt is the same as before).

8.) Depends on the ore, depends on where you are (regional markets are very different) and depends on mineral prices. But in general, Jita is usually the general system that controls the majority of the prices in EVE. Most prices people offer are therefor based on Jita prices.

9.) There is no Best. They are different.

For easy skilling: Bestower (search for Tau's thread about the Humble Bestower).
For shear cargo size: Iteron Mk V

Besides HP and capacity each ship has a different velocity and slot layout.

10.) By joining Minmatar FW.

11.) Well basically like the tutorials. You probe them down. In high-sec this how ever means lots of competition and Gravimetric sites are generally the hardest to probe down, specially with low skills.

Yes they work the same as normal belts, there is a finite amount of asteroids in them (usually better then you will find normally). If the site is mined out, it despawns and respawns somewhere else randomly. So yes, as distribution is random, some systems can be lucky and have multiple, others are unlucky and have none. And no, if there are no more signatures, then there isn't anything to scan anymore.

01. Is there a way to add keybindings to "release drones" and to "drone start repeat harvesting"?

Alas. We've been asking for one for a long time, but there is a trivial thing they got hung up on.

03. When I alt-tab out of the game my screen goes greyish/darkish, if I open the task manager with ctrl-alt-tab it turns back to normal, why is that?

IIRC, part of the thingybob that makes eve use less resources when it's not in front.

06. In the overview window can I create a tab that shows only containers?

Yes you can. And lots more. I hate to say "Google Overview", but the overview actually has a whole lot of functionality in it that's hard to get into here.

07. I've heard that if I don't mine a 'roid completely dry, it will respawn the next day and there might spawn a few more of the very same roids spawn. Is that true for massive scordites?

I always run on the assumption that they just randomly refill the belts at downtime. There's lots of crazy theories that make me go "why would I waste programmer time and server processing cycles on this..?" I suppose it's possible.

08. If I want to sell roids (like massive scordite), where is a good place to sell?

How do you propose to sell an entire asteroid itself? The ore you can just sell wherever. Check your market, or something like eve-central for cross region prices if you want. though your time has value too, before you go hauling rocks 30 jumps chasing a few pennies extra profit.

10. How could I farm Minmatar LP?

Other than joining Minmatar faction warfare? I'd need more detail of what exactly you're trying to accomplish. Mining peacefully in highsec and declaring war on the entirety of the Amarrian Empire don't seem to be compatible activities.

1. the drone UI is pretty bad, so no. Fortunately, it's due for a revamp at some point.
2. Yes. Open your assets tab and there will be any number of different filter tabs, including one labeled "Search".

3. No idea. Try setting the client to "fixed window" in graphics settings (as opposed to fullscreen or windowed).

4. For some things. Click and drag. I don't think you can set specific hangars but I could be wrong.

6. Sure. Just go into the overview filters and deselect everything that is not a container, save it, and create a new tab with that filter.

7. I do not know of any way that the respawning system can be manipulated. The way it works is that every downtime, new roids spawn and existing roids get bigger. Over time a heavily-mined belt will become almost barren, whereas a belt that isn't touched will become very rich.

8. In general, trade hubs. Unless you want to manage orders yourself, you will be selling to 'buy' orders (which is to say, you will be selling to players who want to buy your ore). Most of these buy orders are centered in trade hubs. Jita is the safest option in that you will always get about the market price for the ore. Most other trade hubs will also probably give you the same results with less travel. If you need to check prices across regions to make sure that the buy orders available nearby are close to what you should be getting, use eve central.

9. the Sigil is faster and more agile than the Bestower, but the Bestower carries more. CCP is currently in the process of applying the tiericide initiative to industrials, so all races' indy ships are likely to be in for a complete redesign in the near future. For now, a Bestower will be fine.

Depends on what you mean. Every NPC corporation has an LP store with its own set of LP. What you probably mean is faction warfare LP, which involves joining FW. Theoretically you could be in FW just to farm LP and make ISK, but in general I don't think it's worth it unless you want to get into PVP.

scanning is sort of complicated and you'll want to watch a scanning tutorial on youtube and do the ingame scanning tutorial. It's based on a geometric principle where you can find a point by knowing, from multiple reference points, how far away it is.

If you have one probe laid down then that probe will only know that a signature is X distance away, so the sig is represented as a sphere of radius X. The actual result could be anywhere on that sphere (plus some uncertainty from deviation). Two probes within range of the target give you a circle since both probes together can work out that the target could only be there. Three probes will give you two points (ingame, this is represented by two points with the same signature name and strength), and four+ probes will give you a single point (which can be warped to if you get 100% strength).

Gravimetric sites offer ores that are one security level below your current status. In hisec, grav sites offer ores you can only find in lowsec. In lowsec, the same applies to null. You can in fact transfer bookmarks to other people (either have them warp to you in a fleet when you're in the site, or shift + drag the bookmark from people and places into your cargo). All exploration sites, gravimetric sites included, despawn when they are completed and respawn elsewhere. So, the number of grav sites is infinite, but each one is temporary and you'll need to keep scanning for a regular source of roids.

03. As others have mentioned changing it to fixed window will fix this. I had the same problem but not had any issues since.
I dont know what causes it since i am a complete moron with computers Big smile

Most of your points have been answered but I'll just mention your 02

In Assets, Search, enter Category: Ship

This will list all the ships and only ships that you have in assets. If you wanted to find any skillbooks you own in a station hangar you would put in Category: Skill

There are quite a few powerful options in Search and there was a dev blog that covered the different search options a while back.

Thank you very much for the answers. I was playing WoW for quite some time, and I'm really surprised that there weren't any trolls, but rather very helpful and informative answers.

I am also really surprised how deep the learning curve in Eve is. CCP did some great job by designing the game. :)

I really wish that they fix the drone window. :-(

this is the newbie help forum. if you are not a newbie or willing to help newbies, you're not supposed to be in here and mods actually do take care of that. also, you will get trolled enough in game, don't you worry. (hint: those guys in jita probably won't really double your ISK ;))

I should buy an Ishtar.
