Is racism punished in the real world? No.
So get over it.

We have people of all colours in our corp. We don't care what words get thrown around because they are words and all of them are open to use in playfull insults.

Yep, I completely agree in an isolated group of friends. But would you walk into a bar and use the same language?

wait there is a new one? Shocked

no but seriously there not much that can be done ingame to make sure people are not racist or anti-semetic or homophobic... its just something you have to get past or join a group of people who dont use those terms...

I have cleaned this thread up a bit. I would like to remind everyone participating in this thread of some rules on the forums, in particular;

Quote:
Immediate banning from the forum can result from any of the following:

The posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned.

and

Quote:
Avoid using profanity.

Using partial masking (such as asterisks or punctuation marks) to bypass the profanity filter is prohibited and will result in the same action as if the actual word had been typed.

Please remember to keep it on topic and civil, or there will be consequences.

That said, if you see racist behavior/language, please report it via the petition system. Racism is never tolerated and reporting it is the fastest way to have the issue dealt with in game. Thank you.

Thread now got "white"-washed.

What I hate most is that with all the overreacting on the topic one cannot hate a black guy for being dumb, drunk and disrespectful or even criminal, because hating anyone who is black, and me being white, could be a case of racism! Roll

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

A whopping *one* incident of racism in local and the OP regards the offender as a 'person' or sub-human. Perhaps it is for the best that CCP staff are in charge of deciding guilt and dealing out punishment, and not over-zealous individuals like the OP.

I refuse to believe OP's claim that someone was trolling in local.

Ok, I recently encountered an incident of racism in System Local chat.

I found the language used racist and entirely offensive, so I petitioned it.

I immediately (fastest petition reply I have every received) got a message back to say it would be investigated, no feedback would be given and the petition was closed.

Having just seen the 'person' (used lightly) fly through local, I can only assume that the 'person' received nothing more than a slap on the wrists and a thank you for continuing to subscribe.

I guarantee I'd get more of a punishment if I named and shamed the 'person' though.

I don't expect people to name and shame, but am I the only one to feel that this persistent problem is not met with a harsh and public punishment?

I've seen people gagged, temp banned, and perma banned from letting their mouth run in local. Nothing like Ginger stuff, but more like what you're talking about.

Saying ****** is offensive, not racist. Not giving someone a job because of their skin color is racist.

there's a line that if you cross, ccp will temp ban you for but the N word in local is hardly it.
in any case, anyone who's completed primary school has heard FAR worse.

From my understanding, using racists slurs is not allowed anywhere in EVE, in game or on forums. It's one form of griefing that is not allowed.

Dont know about that. I know people who have been fired over using racists language at work.

Clearly violating the private policy of a private organization qualifies a proportionate response as 'punishment'. Roll

If you use it as an offence then it is offensive. If you say out of hate then it becomes racism. Words only mean as much as you want them to.

Depends on the people in said bar and how muscular you are.
