Pirate/Faction Destroyers and Battlecruisers

So with the coming seperation of Battlecruisers and Destroyers coming soon, they are about to be put at a pretty distinct disadvantage at what they give access to compared to other basic ship skills, mostly in the way of faction and pirate ships. So I'm kind of curious if this perhaps opens the door to their arrival? Will Destroyers and BCs be given upgrade versions? Is it a good idea? Has this idea been discussed at length before and I stupidly missed it? Got ideas on what you'd want to see done with such ships? Think this is a completely terrible idea? Think this is probably what CCP plans already and this is entirely pointless? I don't know, you'd tell me.

I for example would love to see the new destroyers put into navy and pirate ship forms. They have some of the best ship designs of all the ships out there, and its really a shame that they are only T1 ships. I'd love to see them to be used throughout every tier and be widely used ships. I think as a player who had trouble getting into the game for a good while they were some of the best additions to the game. Flying an Algos was so much more fun to me than flying a Catalyst and I was kind of sad when I moved up from that ship.

Again, apologies if this has been discussed to death or if there is a big discussion on the subject that I missed.

the idea comes up a lot.

the pirate versions, at least, already come with the best of both worlds. that is to say they have they have the firepower and/or resilience of the sub class with high agility and/or functionality. to add a subclass to these already powerful ships would be overpowered.

imagine, a serpentis destroyer with 4 small turrets and a 200% role bonus to hybrid damage, effectively 12 turrets, and add to that the tracking bonus and 90% webs...overkill much?Pirate

an EVEN tougher gila Ugh

superfast, hard-hitting hit and run angel destroyers Shocked

a dragoon that has bad ass neuts and websTwisted (yeah thats kinda cool seeing as the cruor doesnt quite work)

phantasms and succubi that work...ok. Big smile.

the argument applies less to navy faction ships that are rarely the best at what they do, but rather enhanced T1 ships. so maybe.

I, for one, would like my own Angel Cartel destroyer and battlecruiser. My only worry is that they'd look like weird slugs or insects, not that anything is specifically wrong with weird slugs and insects.

Perhaps we could start with Navy Faction destroyers/battlecruisers - Since they're regularly less powerful than the pirate ships of the same size classification, they'd only need a modest bump compared to existing T1 ships and would thus be easier to balance - at least in theory. Moreover, all they'd need visually would be a color change, which CCP has shown is entirely possible with the Every-Color Catalyst Project.

I think they would be semi redundant, so they need to be really different from the other ones.
For example the guristas ships could be totally missile based with shield resist bonuses.

Sansha can have tracking disruptors and active shield tanking

Just something different than the standard

I'd love to fly a Fed Navy Algos.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

the highly specialised bonuses are fundamental to the pirate ships roles. if u gave the sub classes different bonuses and roles, u may as well make them part of a new pirate faction.

I'd expect them to be powerful, yeah... I'm not sure of the logistics of it though. I mean, I'd see Destroyers as being better anti-frigate ships for example. Probably should run the numbers sometime though. The navy ships definitely should happen though, I mean why wouldn't a navy have destroyers and battlecruisers? :p

There were pirate rookie ships on singularity when I was last on, so maybe pirate destroyers and BC's will come at one point, along with new skills, new ships and maybe even new races.

But this is all just speculation, the pirate ships on Singularity could just be gift ships for the 10 year anniversary, or even something else entirely not related to my ideas above.
