Why the POS Implementation Re-Iteration should matter...

The Blog-Post: Sand, Cider and Spaceships - POS - Help! Help! I'm Being Repressed! does outline some basic problems with the starbase implementation which CCP might not be aware of.

E.g.: In the current form owning a POS in Highsec does not yield any real advantage at all. The additional work does negate all kinds of advantages it might bring.

Then do it in lowsec. I have solved this for you! :D

Ever tried to maintain a POS in lowsec as a small corp? Ever seen capital ships in lowsec tearing down a POS in minutes? Solve that as well, first!

Oh, and btw, my intent was to lead towards that blog post not my poor examlpe!

You have just shot yourself in the foot though. One of the biggest advantages of highsec POSs is the lack of capitals.

Like many people, I think all that extra work can be worth it, for the task at hand.

As for the POS revamp, there is already s 130+ page threads in speakers corner, you may do well to read it.

I don't see how CCP could think a pos revamp wouldn't benefit everyone. A expansion built around base building would be amazing.

No. I have not tried to set a footprint in the POS topic. All i wanted was to point towards that Blog-Post.

That is exactly what CCP should be aware of and obvious is not by far. Walking in station, how it was markteted and implemented, was a mistake. But revamping the starbase gameplay would be an amazing opportunity to catch nearly every player in this game. Regardless the space they live in.

To get further back to the topic: CCP should not try to estimate the number of players involved in a feature for its decision what to implement in which order. They should also measure the PITA-level of a feature.
To point towards another PITA-source: Count the number of corporations in EVE and apply a factor of 100 for PITA-level of the corp administration user interface.

Sure there is moving a lot in the UI section (Who does not love CCP Punkturis!?) But does she have had the time and permission to touch the starbase or corp UI? i bet not!

All changes i can recall in the starbase UI over the last years, were focusing on the silliness around that "Attack on aggression" switch or hangars (i'd guess the hangars are earnt 90% by the new inventory UI).

Well you can't realy call a POS a POS nothing personal about it along with all the rules you need to do the slightest things in it like researching..... if they want to call it personal they should make it so 1 player can put one down no corp needed no rolls needed. then make another called a corp owned station.

There is nothing "personal" about a POS.

A POS is a:

Player
Owned
Starbase (alternately, Structure)
Nariya Kentaya
Ministry of War
Amarr Empire

i lived for MONTHS in lowsec with a moon-mining POS and a 15 man corp, we were a pvp group so many of our more well off members would graduate to nullsec alliances.

we fought off every attack on our POS, and the ONE TIME a nullsec entity atempted to take down our POS "for lulz", we managed to get a mixed fleet of Against All Authorities, Atlas., goons, and even TEST to come help us, becuase our old members had joined them.

thats how you play every part of the game but highsec, you make friends and WORK WITH THEM, instead of trying to build a little safety shell around your fragile little world to avoid contact with anyone who might hurt your feelings.

*and to clarify, the only reason i left was some of my friends found an awesome high-end wormhole mercenary alliance, which i am in now, which makes good money AND decent PvP (when i dont get trapped in highsec for a month >.< )
so in short, there are very few obstacles to living in nullsec so long as you choose to learn who the locals are and be their friends, people out there love blues and "good neighbors" because it means there is a discouragement for new people to come and mess with them, and they have to worry about less traffic on the days they carebear.
