How to run mission with auto-poped drones ?

Hello everyone.

I have bad standing with amarr and started missionning for them because of corporation stuff.
I used to farm in a Mega Navy Issue that use 425mm II for BS and ogre II for the rest + BS.

But since the maj, I heard people complaining about auto-aggro and thought like some people saying "Yeah, you just have to take care of them blablabla" but when I tried to farm, it was... How to say, ridiculous.

I was surrounded by tons of ennemis, well, nothing special, as I often take aggro of everything 'cause I know I can tank it. But when I deployed drones, it was like flares in a plane. all the pocket immediatly unlocked me and 2 ogre II get insta poped.
Seeeriously ? WTF is dat ? I am supposed to run mission with Hobgoblin ?

Well if drones get insta pop, then you should make rats immediatly insta pop missiles unless you use rockets, insta dodge lasers and autocanons unless they use small guns.

And I am using Megathron. I feel deeply sorry for people using dominix. It's a shame. Really.
I have nothing against avoiding afk-mission, but this is too much. Drones getting inta lock by whole pocket...

Dunno, make them auto-regen armor/hull or make a remote drone repairer with 50km range if you really want boats to be that useless -____-...

Well at least, if you need to escape of any mission because of scramble etc, just drop a drone and you're free to go.

Fit a remote sensor dampener, it was changed to perform an AoE taunt on every cycle.

CCP added aggro tables to the mobs, and e-war modules work exactly like a thunderclap, just spam and hold aggro while your DPS take them down.

EDIT: There doesn't seem to be any threat generation, it just seems to be a binary "Attack me" very similar to what paladins use, so its more like Righteous Defense

Now with 100% less Troll.

Well, i tried pulling aggro from my Alt's drones with 2 target painters and also with 2 ECM modules. Never worked 100% reliably.

Is the remote sensor dampener working as a taunt, or a ability with increased threat generation?

I've formed a small drone party with the following setup, and i have a lot a aggro problems.

1 heavy dps tank drone
1 medium armor rep drone
3 light dps drones

I want the heavy to tank the dps, with the medium rep drone keeping the tank drone alive, and the 3 light doing the dps. The problem is the tank keep loosing aggro, mostly to the dps drones but sometimes also to the rep drone.

Should i use a heavy sensor dampener drone for better aggro?, and do you think this setup can kill an elite space dragon?

it is basically works exactly like it does in world of warcraft, CCP just copied and pasted.

Now with 100% less Troll.

Well, I don't know. Everywhere I go people say it works then someone say the contrary.

CCP should change that massive aggro in particular on Ogre II (and all heavy drone I suppose). So much hate on drones.
If at least MWD were working in all room I'll go with it and blasters, but I'm stuck with 425mm and a ball of angry frigates unpoping drones =/

From patch notes on Dec 19, 2012

Quote:
NPCs will now only target drones in their size category.
Elite frigates and cruisers NPCs will go for small drones and above.
Frigates and Cruisers NPCs will go for medium drones and above.
Battleship NPCs will go for large drones.

Your heavy drones get full aggro
Use light drones and only elite frigates and elite cruisers will target and attack them.

"Only"... Like this is not enough to unpop them Ugh
Well as I said drones are good flares, you can espace from the most scrambling pocket by droping one Lol

I run Level 4s with only Hob IIs, (elite Cruisers are not an issue for me). I would say that I probably lose a drone every 4-5 missions now. The key with elite Frigs I have found is just to be on top of your drones. Don't launch until the Frigs are close, make sure your Drone skills are appropriate and manage your drones.

I just cycle through my three flights of Hob IIs, they rarely take armor damage that way.

This cheered me up ty Lol Really brings back memories.

On a more serious note. Has noone even mentioned Sentries? The way to do it now is to bring ONLY light II and Sentries II... Lights ONLY on close orbiting frigates. Heavies is a nono, mediums maybe if u dont have enything better to put in that bay

Ogres are bad and you should feel bad for using them! navy mega has a nice drone bay, you can fit a set of sentries and 2 waves of lights.

I have a navy mega with mwd and blasters, and it doesn't lose aggro to ogres easily and doesn't need a target painter. You do need to use it to carry the drones with you when you mwd in to facemelt though. Once you've popped a couple of things close, you can risk sending the ogres out to fetch something that has scattered if you have to fly the other way, but you cannot _start_ that way with a full pocket.

If I was rail fitted I'd be using sentries.
