Or have they fixed them ?

Since to tested knowledge, lasers and artys STILL do a much better job...

Fix them pls so that Gallente have at least ONE ship worth kiting with and not having to force players to cross-train just to be viable...

Im thinking Fed Navy Comet and its tracking bonuses for instance..might as well remove that bonus to something else that benefits close range, since everyone flies them that way anyway..

k ?

Thxbye

Far as I can tell, small and large railguns are fine. Medium ones are stuck in the awkward middle zone, and they don't have many great platforms either.

Fine as long as you're not moving, playing the sniping sitting duck fit, but that gets old to any other kiting opponents fast, and sorry for your little tracking business once they get to orbit distance and nanofuck you dry.

But yea, fine as they are, even arty outdps' rails in that.

So no, they are definately not fine as they are.

Small railguns are the best small weapon system imo.

... if you know how to use them ... and what ship slap them on ... but yeah ... they are really good in some situations (after fix they surpassed my beloved scorch fited lasers).

I do fine with medium rails, not in an all out Fleetbash, but where damage application matters. For example getting that fleeing frig before it leaves point range.

My rail-fit Algos would like to speak with you. As would my Catalyst, Taranis, Tristan, Ares, and Naga.

Just remember to load Spike and keep at the edge of optimal range.

I'm a big fan of the rail Atron. Little bugger is fast and a pain in the side to kill

I wear my goggles at night.

Small rails are in a good place right now. Try a rail corm, you won't regret it.

Spike dps is utter shite mate.

Use any other ammo with a mwd kiting fit and your tracking goes to **** even with a tracking bonus ship and a bloody track enhancer + rig fit....

Like i said, not nearly as effective as lasers or arty.

I always thought in order to be a member of the gallente federation you had to be chained down with your eyes stapled open so that you can watch x gal die 999 times in his rail comet while singing disney songs.

Spike is a perfectly viable option.

w.r.t 150mm rails, Gallente Hulls:
Spike - For when the opponent can omgwtfpwn you within point range, or your computer is too slow to keep up with burst mwd.
Lead - For when the opponent can't hit you at 18km, and they can't catch you with burst mwd.
Antimatter - For when the opponent can't hit you at 10km and you are not vulnerable to overheated scram.

w.r.t 150mm rails, Caldari Hulls:
Why the f aren't you just sitting at 92 km and omwtfpwning anybody who tries to approach you?

It's called "adding content" for Caldari FW players. You all should be paying me for all the fun you have. Big smile

small rails are pretty decent and all railguns shine most in large spread out fleet battles ... arty and pulse are also good of course but i dont think small rails are bad by any means ... i can fly most frigs pretty decently but my ship of choice is rail ishkur. with spike u can hit out to target range and ur flight of drones can also reach that far and is decent dmg for a frig(200 dps) out to 50-60km.

i still carry javelin for when i get tackled as a close range ammo and the tracking bonus on it is nice and u can still hit people up close decently depending on how the chase goes. in the fleet engagements i was in down south i always had several tacklers from hostile fleet trying to run me down ... i usually prioritize these guys first and try to get dps on asap and kite with a few overheat cycles of mwd if needed .. most frig got chewed up by the rails and drones by the time they got close to me(15-25km) and at that point i would just stop kiting load jav and burn right at them overheating to finish them off while landing a point .... 9 out of 10 people will break off their pursuit far too late and end up getting crapped on.

you can defintly kite with small rails on some ships .. im kinda a drone guy so i like ishkur best for this although other people may prefer other ships or whatever. it works decently... i scored like 500 kills or so in fleet fights with my ishkur in a few months during the war in the south with a railgun ishkur. Lost only 4 of them over the span of dozens of large engagments. and its a decent podsniper when people are getting popped all over in the bubbles.

http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=717662&view=ships_weapons&m=7&y=2012

spike, jav and some paste and ur good to go.

Rails have been awesome for some time. People just turn a blind eye to them. Even meds are nice.
