Leaving cans in the New Eden System by the EvE Gate: CCP - Can it be done?

For those that don't remember, there used to be something of an EvE tradition in which players would fly to the New Eden system, anchor a can, and write something in the can description "(insert plyer name) was here!" being a common one...

I understand the need for speed initiative, and clearing of the space junk reduces lag... but the New Eden system was, as another player put it, a "living monument". I think it's too bad that the most widely distributed and biggest by far player built entity in EvE was removed. I wonder, is it possible to make an exception to the "cans leave space in 30 days" rule for just the New Eden system? Is that something we should bring back?

CCP?

The last time I made the pilgrimage, I didn't see a single can.

Not a real answer. Just an observation.

Last time I was there, I saw no cans and no people in local.

The last time I went there, I saw a handful of cans and left one myself. But that was about six months ago.

The last time I was there... it was when we all came through from the other side.

Things went down hill from there...

Yeah, I remember doing that 'Rite Of Passage' in my 1st year playing this game. Had a Jump clone with a Tech 1 fitted Frigate hauling a small secure container for the trip.. It was considered a time honored tradition which marked you as no longer being a Rookie.

Wasn't there a 'Sightseeing Point' for 'Yodeling' or something like that which you could warp to within the system?

But then a abuse problem in advertising cans filling that particular system. Sure they can be blown up without recourse same with cans by pilgrims. Then they could be safe spot hid to be seen on d-scan and slowly dump more and more within the system tell CCP needed to purge the system.
Special case scenarios for system z y x shouldn't be needed. And could be better left to something that could be used by the community as a whole.
This is an example that could have been used by a new POS system. Or at-least new buildings you can plant anywhere, such as Billboards to perhaps list your own corps market orders, or contracts. or other services. Something that could replace the function of long drawn-out can messages.

I did it for the first time last week. No cans.

Great idea though. +1

Why stop at that?

It's probably the most important site in the game. Entire place should be redone so people go just to see where it all began.

+1 for not clearing cans, last time I was there(a while back) the system had 2 or 3 cans.

It was saddening :(

Have been there also. Would be nice if there was some way we could leave our pilot names near the gate.

How about an agent and a billboard? Speak to the agent on arrival and go do something for him in system, and he lets you sign the guest book when you leave. Smile

Never been btw. Every time I think of it, I have a look at the map and route planner and it's one long string of pod kills. Lol

Sisters of EVE should erect a monument in honor of the traditional pilgrimages in which people leave their names on to mark that they made the pilgrimage and an option to look at the names on the monument. Seems like it'd fit with the story, especially with the religious connections to the gate that the Sisters of EVE have.

Grab an alt, park it in/near New Eden, and access all the cans once/month.

You want content, might just have to make it yourself.

You want a player built, "living monument." Why are you unwilling to maintain it?
